Certainly the least interesting of the BCS bowls. But I enjoy watching the ACC flop and the BE needs all the respect it can get. :smile2:

7-7 early in the 2nd quarter.

Certainly not a BCS matchup. But, hell, I'll watch (parts of) it.

I hate VaTech and their ridiculous coach. So go Bearcats.

BE & ACC Conference champions, sounds like BCS matchup to me.

Entertaining to this point at least. A good bit more entertaining than the "BCS matchup" we saw in the Rose Bowl.

Of course these are BCS teams. That wasn't meant literally.

And both Penn St. AND USC would wipe the floor with either of these teams.

Both of these teams are garbage... and Tech is playing in the Cotton Bowl.
Not sure how.....but I have tickets on the 50 yd line, 27 rows up for the Cotton Bowl....am picking Ole Miss.....watch for me on the telecast....

Agreed... my comment falls into the "doesn't make it right, just the way it is," category.

They did however earn their way into a BCS bowl, so good for them and their fans.

I look forward to the day when their fans look at CU in a BCS bowl and make the same complaint... then perhaps a few years later we are the ones wiping the floor w/ the other conference champs.

Noice. Should be a great atmosphere with 2 schools that are relatively close to Dallas.

I didn't realize until watching GameDay this morning that this is the last Cotton Bowl game to be played in the "Cotton Bowl" stadium. :sad1: That's one thing you can say about the Rose Bowl, I don't ever see them selling out to one of these state-of-the-art stadiums. Good for them.

Should be sweet...look for a big doosh with a CU cap and an 11-year old boy next to him, rooting for Ole Miss!

Doobie Brothers???? One more reason to hate FOX.

Now, dammit, I've seen the Doobs twice, back in the seventies. They put on one of the best shows ever! I didn't know that they got there start playing for the Hell's Angels.

Do I understand correctly that you're supporting Dallas' point with the above post?

My wife just mentioned that she was happy that there was no wardrobe malfunction during their performance. She was afraid to see something flop out that would need ironing. Additionally, she was really happy they didn't start playing Viva Viagra.

And when did they change their name to "Medicinal Doobie Brothers"?

I saw the Doobs in the 70's and again at a conference in the 90's. Gotta admit when they played in a small hotel ballroom at the Telecomm show it was completely awesome. I was in the front row and shook their hands after - it was one of the most amazing concerts I've ever attended.

The Orange Bowl has seen better days. As someone who grew up watching Big 8 football, pretty sad to see its decline in prominence.

This is a real stinker, probably will be one of the lowest rated BCS games ever.

Yeah this really does expose the flawed system called the BCS from another angle. They send sub-par conference champions to marque bowls while teams that could beat them up and down the block are consigned to lower tier bowls. Taking Tech out of the mix, couldn''t the Oregon and Okie St teams that met the other night also beat either one of these teams. Personally I think so. What about Kansas too??

And what the current BCS agreement goes until 2014? (I think I read that on this board) Too bad, there's too much money and too little common sense being applied to determining a true national champion while fans get stuck with an inferior product.

This is the reason why I have a problem with the concept of automatically sending conference champions to any proposed playoff system. In a 8 team playoff that allows for automatic conference champion participation, both of these teams would be included. Utah would beat either of these teams - handily.

If we go to a playoff, keep the BCS computers and seed the teams in the tournament, regardless of conference champion status.

The mNC game stole their seed. Thus they took what they thought would be the best draw for the region. Again confirming that the BCS is a farce.

I kind of agree that with the other post about the Cotton bowl. They all want that luxury box revenue.

Maybe we should actually admire the Rose Bowl for preserving the B10 P10 tradition but than that would have led the OBowl to seeding Texas v Cinncinnati.

Yea, 2 years ago they had Wake-Lousville and last year KU-VT. I remember when the Big 8 champ was still going to the OB, that was usually the most significant of the bowls being played. And I still say alot is missing from this game because they moved it out of the historic OB stadium. Granted it may have been a dump and run-down, but they're able to keep Wrigley and Fenway going without giving those stadiums a major facelift.

:iagree:

Everytime the argument comes up for an 8-team playoff, that's the number one thing I say too. If there was an 8-team playoff in place this year that included the 6 BCS champions, then teams like Cincy and VT would get in while teams like TT and Utah would be left out. That would be a terrible system, even if is a playoff.

The Bowls were the best when they were all on New Year's day.

Cotton Bowl / Rose Bowl / Orange Bowl / Sugar Bowl

Those were the good days of the bowls.

Yep. Only five bowl games total yesterday sucked.

I totally agree. I used to love waking up on New Years day with a TV guide in front of me. Citrus Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Cotton Bowl, Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl. All were good games. All had great teams.

and what's this chit about the Liberty Bowl being played TODAY?!? WTF?

I didn't even realize the Liberty Bowl was today until you just mentioned it.

I'm surprised they're playing the Cotton Bowl today. I wonder if a factor there is that today is a "tweener" day being wedged between the holiday and the weekend.
