What has Hawk done?

He's recruited one of the best offensive line groups in the country (Miller, Givens, Mariner, Deehan). One of the best running back groups in the country (Scott, Polk, Stewart). One of the best LB groups in the country (Major, Katoa, Rippy, Mohler). And if this years class holds, one of the best defensive line groups in the country (Kasa, Nuckols). GO BUFFS!

PS: I forgot we might end up with a pretty special WR group this year as well.

It is truly going to be painful waiting for the season to start this time.

I just think CU is going to experience the kind of resurgence that takes everyone by surprise. This team looks amazing.

Revenge will be so dang sweet. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

No question he can recruit. But I have to say it.

"Can he coach?" Haven't seen the talent translate to the gridiron...

Yeah but we run from the shotgun...

When we line up in a power formation and start pounding it on teams and then start throwing the ball deep when the D starts crowding the line, then we have something going!

This is ultimately the most important question. Hoping there is little doubt after the 2009 season.

First, its kind of hard to "coach" em when they are sitting on the bench injured. Second, he sure seemed to be able to "coach" em when he was at Boise St., didn't he? Anyway, I call :hijacked:

Ditto. Kinda hard when a bunch of walk ons are playing wide out, your back ups are playing on the o line and both of your star defensive tackles play the entire season with lingering injuries that they never recovered from the season before.

It's not all just on the field. He has stabilized the program, the media loves him (for the most part), improved our image etc. All very important stuff

I'd definitely like to see more of this.

Maybe before we label these groups the best, maybe some of them should actually play in a college game. Better yet play really well. Of all those names only Miller, Stewart, Scott and Mohler have played and Scott did not meet expectations.

Oops. I mispelled "Nuckols."

Yeah, I should have used the adjective "potential" in there. That is an adjective, isn't it? I always sucked at grammar.

"potential" is both a noun and an adjective.

Noun: "sackman has potential"

Adjective: "sackman is the potential starter."

I'm hoping there is little doubt that he CAN coach after the 2009 season...

my HS baseball coach used to tell us that "potential" just means you aren't worth a crap now.

Your coach was a very wise man...

Our Wr class could be one of the best in the country.

Another thing I like what Hawk is doing is he is winning recruiting battles over elite schools and coaches. He has won head to head battles with mutliple players over, Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll, Bo Peleni, Charlie Weiss, Mack Brown, etc.

Again, I hate excuses, but we were snake bitten with injuries that not even a USC could do all that great. I can't wait for next fall.

Well, except that USC would have another 4 star to replace the one they lost.

Ignoring Mohler as he came from a JC, the rest have not really made a mark on the field yet. The oldest of them will be sophomores next fall....

The point is well made though. It starts with recruiting. If these guys hit their potential we have some good years ahead. Sophomores.....

I'm surprised that no Husker fan has gotten on this board and taken exception to you calling out Hawk beating Pelini head to head... those sensitive bast****

If you're going to use an excuse, try using the "no depth, no talent in upper classes" excuse. Injuries happen in FB (not often like this year, but they happen). We'll absorb them a lot better when we have Jr's and Sr's starting and 3rd year guys at 3rd string. Absorbing injuries to True Freshmen starters when your backups are freshmen also, means you are really not a squad that is ready to compete at this level. We haven't been for awhile.........

:yeahthat:

giving freshmen a 'chance' to start is nice, but this year to many 'had' to start

This isn't boise state and we aren't playing their weak competition.

Won't be any excuses for 2009, he said 10 WINS.

Nothing to argue. He took a few when Cally got canned. No biggie.

My math may not be the best but it seems like the having full positions that are among the best in the country would add up to a little more. Everyone has injuries, they just don't use the excuse to this extent.

Won't be too long and we'll find out.

And...if Barnett's players were so bad then it HAD to be better playing 95 frosh. Didn't it???

Hey, 'syko, I found just the thing for you!

Star recruits often love to go to teams that they feel need them. Oklahoma, USC, Florida, Texas, etc are not as much in need as Colorado. Nebraska is doing fine and any "head to head" recruiting competition with Colorado is a matter of perception; we'll beat you this year no matter who you get. 2010 as well. But you know that, thus your ongoing verbal venom in these forums.

Colorado's coaching staff is very improved; on a par with Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. Expect a bowl year, probably 7 wins max.

Meanwhile, we'll be vying for the National Championship.

But you know that. :smile2:
