hawk said as much after practice yesterday... they want to play the 5 best o-linemen that they have.

mtm is out with the knee, so they had to move a few guys around again. miller has the strength/versatility to go inside and miller himself said yesterday that he doesn't have all his lateral speed back yet.

so, what you've got here is the staff trying to play the best available 5...

iltis has been pencilled in at center for some time. solder looks like a potential stud at lt and hawk said he's basically the most fixed of the guys on the line. you want miller on the field. givens looks like a top 5 guy, too. head is out for the spring along with max. that leaves the one spot up for some competition--- bahr is installed now. mtm will probably take bahr's spot in the fall, if healthy. and your top 2 subs then are head and bahr. that gives them some flexibility.

givens, miller, iltis, mmt, and solder as a starting 5 in the fall is a pretty damned impressive ol on paper. you've got some big nasty athletes along that line.

and if someone goes down (please not that again!), the staff is creating some versatility by moving guys around a bit. keep the best 5 you've got on the field at all times!

this is all good, i think.

yes

The 2009 OL could very well be LT-Solder LG-MTM C-Iltis RG- Miller RT-Givens
All 5 have the potential to be All-Americans or All-Big XII IMO. That's one scary OL

That's a pretty sensationalist statement. I don't think anyone of them has shown All-American potential--I think Solder and Miller have the potential to be All-Big XII. Saying otherwise just highlights your lack of scope of the college football landscape.

That's what it is, potential. That's why I added in the OR. MTM would have been a frosh All-American without the injury. I didn't say they would...I said they have the POTENTIAL. Thanks for the low blow tho

YOU DONT KNOW ****! what else is there to do in the offseason than pimp your team and talk about potential?

aw hell, nothing wrong with a little sunshine pumping during spring ball. reality is likely to hit soon enough when they play the games for real. every once in a great while, dreams do come true.

no one outside of the program thought CU would go undefeated in 89, but they did it, all the way up to the orange bowl loss.

maybe they ARE ALL all-america candidates! how awesome would that be?

i'll settle for the 10 wins that hawk promised us. :smile2:

Solder looks the part, but until he shuts down D1 (or hell, D-1AA) DE's for more than one game at a time, he will be nothing but mediocre... for every Kansas State game, he had 2 or 3 FSU games last year...

I think Behrens is being overlooked. Also can't believe MTM can stay healthy for an extended period of time at this juncture.

FSU was a good judgement on his skills against real DE's and the rookie in him showed. Let's hope that will be different this year. We also don't face the freakish ends we had last year against fsu and ut

Well, I still don't think they have the POTENTIAL to be All-Americans. POTENTIAL is not an absolute term--there are varying degrees of POTENTIAL. And it wasn't a low blow--a low blow would be taking a dig at your mom or something of the like.

**** this sunshine pumping ****. I was results on the field, mother****ers!

I agree, behrens played decent as a freshman and i'm thinking he's got to be right there, especially with his experience.

As a converted TE that lacked the size of a true OT he did a good job last year. With the size and experience this year he'll start to shine (start being the operative word). Wait until the year after next and we'll have one dominate as hell OL. Next year they will just be a freaking strong unit.

:yeahthat:

I'm excited about next year, but I want results on the field. This .500 or below bull**** doesn't cut it anymore. And it appears the Buffs have had a significant talent upgrade over where they were when GB left. So now it needs to translate to wins.

I agree with this statement, but, to be fair, that FSU DE was an absolute monster. He was lighting up people all year and was one of the most impressive defensive players in the nation. I believe he will be the #1 DE drafted this year. The only tackles that are shutting down guys like that are guys who are headed to the NFL for the most part... he was a freak.

fair enough... the problem is that he ALSO got schooled by the DIV-AA DE he plyaed the week before...

From what I can gather, the top OL guys on the team (and their respective classes after medical reshirts) are:

Solder - JR
Miller - SO
Iltis - FR
MTM - FR
Givens -FR
-------------
Bahr - FR
Behrens - SO

All I can say is Hawk better win with these guys this year because we finally have some experience at OL and heck, we only got 3 years with this core group!
