the team as a whole is excelling in the classroom. according to the official article, they got the highest cumulative g.p.a of any team in the last 24 years. thats awesome. we lost some valuable guys this week, but we still have a ton of dedicated players who are focused on returning us to where we should be, while representing us well. go buffs baby.

Let me be the first, if not the only, non PC responder. I dont really give a dick. Win some dickin games and then I might get excited about the team's GPA. Maybe if the NCAA institutes a trivia bowl as a tiebreaker for BCS bowl consideration I may care. Im sick of looking for the silver lining. Stop dickin losing games!!!!:pissed3:

Very foresighted of you, or is that foreskinned?

At least someone said it. The GPA thing is nice and should be noted, but let's not pretend it means much as long as we keep losing games.

I just thought it would be good to point out, however, let it be known: I WANT TO WIN MORE THAN ANYTHING. :gun:

:yeahthat: I'm with you. I am glad everyone is doing well in the classroom and they are to be commended, student-athlete and all that but I don't buy tickets to see somebody do Calculus or recite poetry. It is time to put some W's up IMO.

I find it interesting that there are several people advocating a "win or else" attitude, and yet most CU fans still want to see CU take on the NFC East every year in the non-conference schedule.

:yeahthat:

I'm glad the team is doing well academically. I don't want to see CU trotting out a bunch of illiterates who are majoring in recreational reading (cough KJuco cough). But since we all know very well that the administration isn't going to give a **** about that part of Hawk's job performance if he continues to finish below .500 and fail to even deliver a bowl bid, I don't see that we're under any obligation to pretend that the academic record means more to us than the results on the field.

i'm not pretending. listen we were all gung ho about this season until this week when we lost josh smith, whom most agreed wasn't going to factor too greatly into the O. the majority of our team is back, guys we are counting on for wins and i'm glad those guys are doing well in the classroom. comprende?

Wait, so do you want them to "win some games" OR "stop losing any"....CU has won some games, but no they have not stopped losing.

How about we start with "winning more than we lose" and go from there.

I didn't mean to call you out with what I said. I was really talking more about what Fatty said and the backlash some people are probably going to have against it. Bottom line, the administration isn't likely to value GPA results over on field results, so I don't think we have to pretend that we do either.

But that doesn't mean I'm not pretty damn glad that the team I support is getting it done in the classroom. I can't see why anybody would be against that....

Well I think it's cool. Getting bowl eligible and beating the piss out of the fuskers cool? No, but don't understand the negativity towards this subject. Never a bad thing to recognize the players and academic support staff for their work.

How about we just say,'Good job Fellas,' instead of saying 'we don't give a ****,' and then move on.

I think the majority of cu fans want a less brutal non conf schedule lately from what I've seen.

because some people are unhappy people?

i agree that a GOOD JOB FELLAS is in order.

Personally, I'd like to see them play a little stronger NC schedule than they have this year. When you play a cupcake NC schedule year in and year out like those kansas teams do then maybe go onto having a nice looking record you get slapped with the overated tag and lose a certain amount of respect.

And to think, I thought "how could this thread have ANY negative posts?" Guess I was wrong.

The way I look at it is that when parents of recruits see that CU is a place where their kid can excel both in the classroom AND on the field (because we ARE going to excel on the field), then academic success is not only a good thing, it is a GREAT thing.

DBT, Now that we are a smart team, can we run some plays like Boise state did against Oklahoma in the bowl game? I hope so! I thought thats what hawk would bring to the Buffs. I'm still waiting:cool:

having a smart team means less players are academically ineligible. we sure could have used some of those academically ineligible players last year, no?
