We have renewed our focus on the Aloha State in recent years and it could pay off in a big way for the 2010 class. The state is absolutely stacked with Division 1 prospects this year, and CU has made a favorable impression on many already. Here are some names to remember:

Micah Hatchie-OT who has offers from most of the Pac-10. Has the frame to put on weight once he hits a college campus. Hard to tell where he leans at this point.

Kaiwi Crabb-Another OT who has long favored Oregon and CU. His father played ball for Oregon, but they have not offered. We have a good shot here.

Kona Schwenke-Might be the best player in this year's Hawaiian class. Weakside DE that has shown well at camps. He plans on going on a mission before enrolling in school. We are currently on the outside looking in.

V.J. Fehoko-Also a strong contender for the best player in this year's Hawaiian class. Undersized, but very strong. His older brother plays at Texas Tech and he appears to favor the Red Raiders and UCLA at this juncture.

Sealii Epenesa-Prototypical build of a NT. Already has college-ready size. We are in the mix with UCLA here.

Foi Foi-Easily my favorite name this year. A more athletic DT that could swing outside to strongside DE in certain situations. Recently showed well at the Poly camp in Hawaii.

Lawrence Lagafuaina-Another kid who has the build of a NT. Does not currently have an offer from us, but we have been in contact. UCLA seems to be the odds-on favorite here.

Sani Fuimaono
-An undersized DT prospect who recently visited Boulder. Does not have an offer and he is probably a Plan "B" or "C" recruit. Attends same school as Crabb.

Tuu Lolohea
-LB that is starting to gain interest. Showed well at the Poly camp in Hawaii.

Shaydon Akuna-Very impressive LB prospect that might not be much of a dropoff from Fehoko. Good size and showed well at the Hawaii Poly camp. Currently has offers from several Pac-10 schools and I would not be surprised if we jump in the race eventually.

Overall, there's the potential for 2-3 Hawaiian players to sign in the 2010 class. Let's hope Coach Cabral can do his thing.

I hope so to,thanks for the list. I just hope the recent adventures with maiava and katoa doesn't hurt this area.

He is from utah but just sayin'. I doubt it will considering it was all on him. Just put this down as another dumba$$ reactionary post of mine and leave it at that
No clue what you are saying....but best of luck.....hope you are not a CU grad....

I'm always optimistic when it comes to Hawaii recruits. Cabral is the man when it comes to recruiting those guys. Let's hope that continues....

And Foi Foi has got to be our #1 recruiting target for this class. I WANT that name on a Buff roster for the next 4-5 years.... :gobuffs:

LDS is very big on the islands (for some reason, don't ask me why). The Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu is run by the church, for example. I'd say any kid who's planning on going on a mission before enrolling in school is headed for BYU.

I have some LDS guys in my business, and thay are all about very tight knit families, which is a value very much shared with the Polynesian community. My guess is that LDS started there and then it spead quickly due to many shared values.

Great advice. I did what you suggested, and feel like a new man.:smile2:

Getting bored with the old man???

**** UCLA. That is all.

:yeahthat:

But that's a pretty big school. Maybe we can put a few people on the project?

Unfortunately, you are probably right on the money here.... :sad1:

Some other names we might be hearing more from as the season goes on:

Taz Stevenson-Speedy two-way player that could play either WR or S at the next level. Has a couple Pac-10 offers among others.

Handsome Tanielu-Another nominee for the all-name team. Another athletic DT who currently has no offers, but is getting looks from several schools.

Jamen Kealoha-Albarado-LB that has impressed at the All-Poly camp. We are interested.

Calen Friel-DE that has impressed at the All-Poly camp. Already has an offer and more could be on the way soon.

Veteson Sauni-Another athletic DT, but undersized.
