Hate to show my age, but 20-10 has to be the best moment.

A 2-4 CU team - no wins over Nebraska since 1969 - Cornhuskers undefeated and ranked 3rd - no television coverage! - Jeff Campbell reverse for a touchdown - halfback pass to Lance Carl for a touchdown - a (then) Folsom Field record 57-yard field goal by DeLine - Barry Remington's interception with 3:14 to play ... uh, you get the idea ...

All that has been good about the Colorado football program for the past 23 years can be traced back to that afternoon. :gobuffs:

The NC win over Notre Dame was good, but, let's face it, it was not an exciting football game, and the PR called back at the end put a damper on the celebration. The Miracle at Michigan is etched in all our memory banks, and 62-36 was swwwweeeet, but the best moment in CU football over my 30 years has to be 20-10 in 1986!

Go Buffs!

Great points as always MT. You begin to establish some criteria in your post for evaluationg great moments as a Buff. The significance of the moment (in your case, the turning point toward hope) as well as the excitment of the game itself.

A similar argument could be made for the 1990 victory at lincoln. It was an important stepping stone in the quest for national championship, achieved on the road against a team determined to avenge their previous loss in Boulder. Also, the fouth quarter comeback made that game more than exciting. Not sure if it's my first-place vote, but it's gotta be up there.

Being king of the mountain. No doubt about it!

Sorry hucksters but the best you are in my book are "also rans".

With ya all the way on this one! There were grown men in the stands at Folsom, crying tears of joy and relief at the end of that game! (Just one small quibble: it was 1967, not '69, when the Buffs last beat kNU, in a game at Lincoln. Dick Anderson, Mike Veeder and of all people, future male model DB Jeff Raymond, were the heros that day. Beating Devaney then was such a pleasure!)

I remember too, it would have been an absolutely perfect day, but Bill Buckner let that one get through his legs later that evening and the Curse of the Bambino continued.......Oh well, can't have everything!

I'm going with the 1986 game against the fuskers. I was a Freshman at the time. I had grown up watching games at Folsom, and now I was part of the school. We had lost all four OOC games and were looking at a very disappointing season after the previous bowl season. We hadn't beaten the fuskers in my lifetime, but had come oh so close on so many occassions. It was like a giant weight had been lifted from the collective shoulders of everybody in the stadium that day. I haven't experienced pure joy like that at any other football game.

The 1990 season was just magic. It happened to be my senior year, which made it all the more easy to get swept up in the scene. The road trip with some friends to Lincoln was epic, and holds the top spot for my favorite CU memory. Rushing the field is always a thrill. Rushing the field at Nebraska Memorial was insane.

The 2001 CCG in Texas Stadium is a close second. That was the loudest CU game I've attended. God bless Mochetti, who never gets enough credit for filling in for Oches and getting it done. It's always Simms/Applewhite blah, blah, blah.

Or Moschetti's good friend, Bobby Pesavento, in this case.

I watched the 86 game on AFN, very 1 sided announcers. Very cool to watch a few high school friends beat :rip:cornholio:rip: in my barracks in Germany.

I'm going with 90 in ***braska. Down 12-0, bienemy and pritchard bring the buffs back with 4 4th quarter td's leaving the corn stunned. EB wagging his tongue at the crowd was funny too.

I remember watching the National Championship on TV but I had no idea the significance at the time.

My #1 has to be 62-36 over the Corn. The whole game my buddies and I kept asking ourselves if this could be for real. That was the loudest I've ever heard Folsom...every time Crouch got stuffed running the option and every time Chris Brown & Purify broke one off, the entire place went nuts! The entire student section would yell "goodbye Heisman" everytime Crouch got tackled. I (and most of the Student Section) were rushing the field before the game clock had even hit 00:00. I have never to this day have seen an away team get off the field and out of town faster than they did that night. I remember the grounds crew & security pulled the pins out of the south goal posts knowing that they were coming down and they could do nothing to stop it. I gave Daniel Graham a big high five (dude is huge in person) and took a little piece of the field grass with me (grew it in the lid of an Illegal Pete's to-go box haha).

After winning the Big XII Championship I remember the last BCS ratings coming out with the Buffs like 3 hundredths of a point behind Nebraska for who would play Miami for the National Championship - the only thing that made me feel a little better about CU getting snubbed was seeing Nebraska get beat down and not even scoring until late into garbage time when Miami had already locked up the NC.

Good times...

The 20-10 was a great moment and I agree it turned around the program under Mac but the 2001 62-36 was just the best for me. I knew that CU was going to win and a lot of other fans did too. NU came in undefeated and everyone(national media) assumed they would crush CU forgetting that CU could win and clinch the North. I remember when I went to the game all the NU fans trying to score tickets and there were not many sellers - I believe the CU fans knew that victory was in the air. But I never expected the total domination that we saw that day. I remember a Nebraska fan sitting behind me and he would not even make eye contact with anyone after the first 2 TDs - his wife was a CU fan and she was jumping up and down beating him on the back.

The Nebraska fans leaving in total dejection was a classic memory. I remember going out to eat on the mall after the game - Nebraska fans were at the next table and whenever the highlights were played in the bar area the Buff Fans were cheering like mad, the NU fans were in total agony. Even die hard NU fans will tell you that day had a huge impact on their program.

It was nice to enjoy it longer than a moment.

I gotta go with 1990. I got all the stuff.:smile2::smile2::smile2:

Well, becoming a Buff fan in 2003 kind of limits my choices. I'd never been happier as a Buffs fan one Eberhart's kick went straight through. The 62-36 game was cool and all, just as a casual college football fan growing up in Michigan. I'm sure that and the next game against UT would've been higher up on my list had I actually lived and breathed CU football at the time.

Uh no, I gave options for everybody. My dad played in early 70's, yet his best moment is 20-10. I know some of his friends who are very proud of that 71 season.
still, it does reflect the age of the posters at times. If I hadn't been young and living in hawaii, I am sure the mNC would have been #1 for me. And those who weren't fans until after 62-36 picked the sooners game,e tc.

Hard to vote anything above a National Championship. I mean... it's a friggin' National Championship!

I voted for 62-36.. I thought we had a great chance to win but had no idea we would be up 35-3 during the game.. Along with all the close calls against these clowns, it was just nice to break through.. Was it more significant than the National Championship or the Miracle in Michigan? No, but it was such a relief to win a big game again.. 1st big win since the A$M game in 95..

Even though it was a big win.....in 05' we took it to you 30-3 which is a +1 point margin over that game. Still a big win tho.

A couple of big differences. In 2001 nebraska was stilll... you know...nebraska. Ranked #1, undefeated and all that crap. The game opened with a BANG! While people tend to forget the Crouch had his greatest personal offensive output of his career, they don't forget that this one was over pretty early. Despite the score, it looked like total domination for CU.

In the '05 game, CU had just laid an egg against ISU and neither CU nor nebraska was its old 90's self; The game meant less on a national scale and fewer people (outside Colorado and nebraska) cared about the result. Also, it was still a game until the fourth quarter when nebraska ran away with it.

However, if CU fans can take credit for a role in dismantling the nebraska program in '01 and getting Solich fired, than nu fans can be proud of the 30-3 result in 05. That was when it all really crumbled for the GB era. I mean the Big XII Championship was worse, but the damage had already been done.

I agree with you...it was a big game for your program. But choosing a rival ass whooping over your only national championship for most memorable?????? U out ur mindz

I was only 5 and wasn't a CU fan when we won the national championship. So while that probably would've been a great moment for me had I been a student/alum at the time, it's tough for me to say a national title when I was 5 was a big deal to me.

The 62-36 game marked the day I became a CU fan.
