the tint/color of the helmet

i've been complaining from time to time here and with friends that the color of the helmet is less pale or "gold" like it used to be.....and more kind of a sour-looking more "yellowy-green" hue of gold. and, it's my position as kind of a "hayta" of the new uniforms the new color is inferior:

from the same page at the AD site:

i make some allowance for photographic variables and light and such but it's clearly different. the "now" helmets look more like South Florida than Buff headgear of the past.

whaddya think?

I don't know that I've noticed as much with the helmets, but the pants are definitely a lighter, not as deep shade of gold as they used to be.

that's true, too. those in the first pic above are plain yellow. they used to be a little "off", but they were at least trying to be gold.

I worked in the AD back Mac's days. They could not get gold helmets then. I do not know if that has changed. We painted the helmets every Friday before a game. I was told that Notre Dame did as well, but they had actual gold flacks in the paint. I think it was an urban myth, but who knows?

I don't think it's that much diff. and the 2 pics have different lighting, the sun is shining directing on top of the top pic, making it appear much lighter.

So it may be that they just didn't paint them up for practice?

One thing that drives me crazy is that CU doesn't seem to have a style book with custom colors for "Colorado Gold" and "Colorado Silver".

And alot of other teams also hold their helmets in the air before kickoffs. But it's somehow a big deal when nd does it.

Anyone else hear not a fan of our jersey? I don't know what it is, but I haven't warmed up to it and its going on 3 years now.. It just doesn't look as sharp as the old ones used too..

The bottom pic of Mick's pic (player with 2) is the best uniform look for CU..

I hate our new jerseys. I liked the ones Hugh was wearing in the pic as well.

Agreed valdezj.. I feel our uniforms look amateurish with the gold lines outline over the numbers and small Colorado name on the front... Its not a huge deal, but it makes me wonder who are these people that come up with these knucklehead designs.

I like all of our uniforms except for the blue/gold ones... I thought the Barnett era uni's were "clean" but it was time for a change imo. Recruits like them as Hawk stated (one player knew he wanted to be a Buff after seeing us in uniform). Props to the AD for catering to the recruits and to the younger generation of Buff fans:thumbsup:

I hate that our helmets are no longer gold and now a more "mustard yellow" color. This is FSU last year. Their helmets are gold.

I am also a big fan of the "old school" block 'COLORADO' we had through the 80's, 90's and early 2000's. I am not adverse to change but the change in the gold of the helmets and pants disappoints me. Further, I think younger kids love different unis and we don't quite have the iconic unis of OU, Texas, USC, Michigan, Ohio State and dare I say it, knu.

I think we have some room to play. We were on the first schools to sign with Nike but we don't need to be Oregon. Our helmets are iconic, and Bohn loves that. However, there is no reason we can't break out a black helmet, or even silver. How about a gold or silver jersey (w/ Nike's name all over it). Just make sure that the GOLD is actually GOLD and the sky blue stays with the Nuggets.

Until we go back to these, I will always complain about the uniforms. Those jerseys should have never been touched and that should have been our identity for ever. None of this italics, small COLORADO, gay looking tampax wings on the shoulder pads, no all white, no black/silver/yellow/purple helmets, just do it right and leave it alone. Maybe on occasion for night games wear black pants with the black jersey.

There has been a decidedly green-ish tint to the helmet gold color the past 3-5 years. Can't understand why they don't change that.
