Well if I was him I would go somewhere where all the hard work I did actually paid off and I would be playing football.

I think he said he has a redshirt left... if this is possible I don't know.

I believe he is still on campus, but still in limbo.
No official word on whether he'll play this year, but optimism abounds.

Who is at fault. No one? We were all told that this kid is good to go. I am sure he heard the same thing. I would be pissed. kJsu here I come

Meltdown alert. My post was pertaining to our luck with juco's whether it's CU or whoever.

Is it an absolute that he wont play at CU this year at all or ever? That is all I wanna know. If so, you still gotta play. I hope not, if he worked as hard as ive heard, then he deserves a chance.​

It is not over. He could still play for CU.

Curious as to how he could be admitted to CU, but not pass the NCAA Clearinghouse?

Does this have to do with him not having enough credits toward a degree to be eligible?

Maybe the NCAA is challenging a test score? Didn't he do some online classes? Ringo brought that up. At least from what I remember.

I thought that the NCAA model was for schools to self-report. I'd be surprised if the NCAA has done much of anything, beyond review what CU has provided.

My guess is that CU saw something unexpected in the transcrips and chose to limit their risk by keeping Simmons in limbo.

It's possible that either ICC or Simmons is responsible, and CU doesn't want to throw either of them under the bus for obvious reasons.
It's possible Kiesau and the AD was overly optimistic, but missed a trick with admissions.

When it comes to juco kids, some day I'll learn to just wait to see them on the field. The recruiting and administrative uncertainty isn't worth the all the drama. I hate getting jerked around by lies, half-truths and ignorance.

The speculation is kinda fun, though.

2 Things:

1)Classes start Monday, right? It would seem that this would have to be resolved by Monday. I think I remember that there is a drop/ad date a few days after the first day of class, so maybe he has until then.

2)I was watching the KU vs. LaTech game from last year on tv (I know, I know) and they were saying that KU's kicker wasn't cleared until 48 hours before the game and had missed the first game. Anyone know the story behind that and if there are any parallels that can be drawn to Simmons' case?

Not sure on those questions, but I think that if the coaches are sure he will get in and this is just the NCAA dragging their feet, then he should start classes on Monday, and they just can't let him practice. If they are not sure if he will get in at all, then I would think that he will not start classes.

Sept. 2 is the regular deadline to add classes for Average Joe student. I hope this doesn't drag out that long, but if it means Simmons can play, I'll be patient to the last minute.

Technicially, Sept. 11 is the last day to add a class WITH instructor's signature, so I would imagine that's even in the realm of possibility.

So he sits in with the understanding that once everything is cleared the profs would sign off? That sounds pretty freaking weird to me.

Yes, it does. I really hope for Andre's sake and everyone else's that it is resolved sooner.
On some players (Shaun Simon, for example), CU has a clear answer, the news is released, Shaun knows his options and can move on to what needs to be done this semester.
Andre Simmon's situation seems very unusual, but as long as Hawkins says "we're working on it," I am going to trust there is hope for positive resolution.
