If Cabral is HC, does he play Cody?

So lets say for some wild reason daddy Hawk is set free in the next few games... Cabral is probably the odds on favorite to be the HC for the rest of the season. If so, who thinks he starts Cody at QB?

If Cabral were head coach, something tells me Katoa would have a better shot than Cody.

But Hawk is playing the guy that gives us the best chance to win right. Hey, I don't mind him starting, and he probably does give us the best shot at winning, but when something isn't working, you gotta make a change.

I am not really sure I can defend starting Cody. Hawkins should have known from day one that you need a real QB to compete in the Big 12. he's had 4 years to recruit a starting QB. And he hasn't done so. When you have a QB inhibited by physical limitations, your offense is bound to suffer. See Kyle Orton and the outcry in Denver regarding the fact that he cant throw more than 10 yards.

If QB is not a strength then CU should be a dominant running team- considering the talent we suppossedly have at running back and O line. Yet, that is not the case. Consequently, the only person that can be blamed is the coach.

I think we need to get Scott in there and let him run the ball 20 times a game. Let Stewart be the change of pace back touching the ball 10-15 times a game. Hansen can work off the play action pass and make throws to the tight end. If there is tight coverage or the play breaks down, Hansen can use his legs to make something happen. This should be a more solid game plan than anything I have seen thus far. Never even coached pop warner in my life but I think I might be able to coach the Buffs better than hawkins.

I just don't understand why a professional football coach in the college game can't see what everyone else sees.

I have no problem with Cody starting, I just have a problem with making him the focal point of an offense that seems better built to feature Scott and Stewart.

he can see exactly what's going on. he just doesn't care for some reason. did you hear his post game comments? "yeah, we lost to csu... oh well"

Let's say Cody gets injured...you think Hansen will still be redshirting in that scenario and one of the true frosh QB's will be in?

If Hawkins gets injured, then probably Hansen will scrap the redshirt - but he would become the every down starter in that scenario.

If Hansen isn't going to be the every down starter - then he SHOULD redshirt.

Should the question be "If Cabral is HC, does Cody play?"

How does our starting QB react if his daddy gets fired as HC? Hansen may be the QB by default...

Well, that shouldnt take too long based on what I saw last night. He was on his ass more than a drunk fat guy going down moguls. He's isnt very mobile, and when he does scramble he's so slow D will hurt him sooner or later. Hack needs to prepare Hansen for that inevitability. Also, what the hell is he saving a RS for? He's assuming he's goign to still be here next year? That arrogant bastard is sure confident in his position as HC.

I actually think it's conceivable that he knows this is it and he really doesn't care anymore. If he knows he's on his way out he won't care about the consequences of continuing to start his son when he's proven that he cannot play at this level. Cody has put up at least a dozen of these types of games that I can recall. He goes about 19-30 185 yards 1 touchdown and 1-3 picks. He gets several passes batted down per game, takes sacks, doesn't make reads, can't audible out of a bad play, misses open receivers and throws the softest floating passes I've ever seen. DB's eyes must light up when they see him let it go. Last year all the sunshine pumpers made excuses for him because of the line. What now? The line was healthy and ready to "road grade" people. Oops.

don't see how the line excuse is gone. If anything, they were just as bad.

If Hawk doesn't care, why would he put his son out to take a beating?

I can only guess that cody really thinks he can play and dad is going to let him. He shouldn't be starting for us at this point because he's not getting it done. Maybe if he was playing with Texas' weapons he might be a decent backup. What he can't apparently do is make his teammates better or find ways to compensate for his lack of natural talent. Joel Klatt was not a physical specimen either, he was slow and didn't have a cannon arm but he found a way to make the most out of the hand of cards he was dealt. His career ended with a fizzle but for what it's worth he's the only CU quarterback to have won a bowl game this decade.
