when did CU go from "electric" to "just glad we catch the punt". Is this a result of the green movement and an attempt to cut down the team's carbon footprint?

We're a bad block in the back penalty away from having a nice return from Espy Sunday. We'll be alright there I think.

Honestly, I dont get the bitch about this yet??? Special teams was a HUGE strength, maybe our only one, Sunday?? 54 yd fg, nice punt return (negated), nice kickoff returns, good coverage???

I'm just venting a little. Goodman nailed that FG. Espy looked lost back there until th last return, though. KO return wasn't too shabby.

Agree...he didnt do ANYTHING until that last return. Hope that was a sign he's starting to figure it out. I never returned punts, but, I'd imagine it'd take an adjustment period. I'd **** my pants if I had that job. Seems like he has pretty good hands and shifty..maybe he'll figure it out. Lets hope.

I get what you're going after Lefty...In Hawkins' radio show yesterday; he essentially said that he's happy with the fact that we're just catching the punts not returning them due to how difficult it is.

That is not the attitude of a hungry coach - that's the attitude of a complacent coach who's ok with mediocrity (which he hasn't even attained yet, since I consider 13-25 well below mediocrity :bang:).

+Rep to anyone who can find me a top BCS program head coach who is OK with JUST catching a punt, not returning it.

That's pretty much where I was aiming. Hawk just seems OK with just strolling along. Is it just me or does he sound like a guy who has lost his fire?

he too fat to coach them on returning punts

We don't know what their plan was for most of those punt returns, though. If they were going for the block (which I think they might have been, judging from the number of guys right up on the line of scrimmage), then it's no surprise that Espy didn't have much of a return.

Special teams is probably the one area where I thought we were pretty good on Sunday.

When was the last time we were "electric" in anything? You cant compare Roman, Stiggers and Ski Team with todays production? They were under a different regime.

Your answer is that we have never been good in the STeam area under the current staff.

Just had to comment on this because I hadn't thought about Marcus Stiggers in years. I remember neuweasel considered getting him out of texas to be a major score. He's playing semi pro for the dallas diesel now apparently.
