I'm trying to be as positive as I can but from my conservation with a Husker fan on a different board about CU's non-conf games under DH, it has became clear that DH hasn't done so well in non-conference play.
Let's look at the non-conf games under Hawkins:
2006
Lost to Montana State at home, CSU in Denver, Arizona State in Boulder, and Georgia on the road. (0-4)
2007
Beat CSU in Denver, lost at Arizona State, lost to Florida State in Boulder, beat Miami (OH) which leads us to (2-2)
2008
Beat CSU in Denver, barely beat Eastern Washington, beat West Virigina on a FG (they were lucky), and lost to Florida State in Jacksonville.
2009
Lost to CSU in Boulder and on the road to Toledo.
Let me break it down this way:
1-1 versus FCS schools (could have been 0-2)
3-3 versus non-BCS schools (could have been 2-4)
1-6 versus BCS schools (could have been 0-7)
CU's only decisive win under DH in non-conference play was against Miami (OH) which the Buffs blanked. The RedHawks aren't a good football team right now and they recently lost 48-0 at Boise State.
Also if you want to have a successful program, you need to win on the road also. I believe DH has only won TWO road games and that was at TT & BU in 2007. Two road wins and DH is entering his fourth year.
I looked at NU versus those non-BCS teams under Bill Callahan and NU blew them out like they should have. The only loss was to Southern Miss but I consider that team to be one of the better non-BCS teams out there. It's embarrassing that even BC did far better against non-BCS schools than DH has done so far.
I took a look at Baylor and they have won three games on the road since DH's first season.
BU also has won 12 games since that same time frame while DH has won 13 games. And BU has a brighter future.
I bolded the sentence above to drive the point home. We only have ONE MORE WIN THAN BAYLOR and if we lose to Wyoming and BU beats UConn, they will have the same amount of wins as us since we hired DH. No team has had more of a dismal history in the Big 12 than BU.
I know this might not be as bad as the times when we lost to Drake in the '80's but if you compare BU and CU during DH's time at CU, their records are almost the same. The only saving grace is that we went to a bowl game following the 2007 season.
This is clearly not up to the standard that is CU football and although I have been a CU fan since '88, I am aware that we rank in the Top 25 when it comes to all-time wins so they were winning more than losing even before I was born.
Based on this, DH has got to go whether we like him or not.
