Might have to change my opinion of Aric Goodman

After last season I was not a big fan of Aric Goodman, but his last game is starting to bring me around. He came to PLAY against his former school last week. Aric did fine at kicking off and made the easy field goal. But where he impressed me was, with his 2 tackles on special teams. He was downfield with all the other defenders, not just hanging back in case the returner slipped thru. And the best tackling I have ever seen from a kicker, they were technically solid. I would give him the special team’s player of the week award.

Yes.... But please do not award him anything. That seems to be the kiss of death for that dude. A pat on the back should suffice.

Agreed, I think you just tell him that he played alright but he could have done better. Or, tell him he is at risk of losing his scholarship every game no matter what...that should keep him motivated.

Huge improvement from last year, though. He has been our most consistent player this year, without a doubt. that is sad

:yeahthat:

Although I have to admit that special teams this year have been far better than they were last year. Even Espy fair catching every punt is fine by me. No turnovers, no missed FG's, good long punts with halfway decent coverage. We're not losing the games on special teams.

I'm glad to see Goodman have a good year at this point.

Not quite at "no missed field goals" though.

Against CSU:
[FONT=courier new,courier]Goodman, Aric 2nd 02:50 54 yds - Good

Against Toledo:

Goodman, Aric 2nd 04:50 47 yds - Missed

Against Wyoming:

three out of four FGs is way better than last year, and very respectable.

I missed the Toledo game. I don't think a field goal would have made any difference there, though.

All I have to say is that his tackle on the first kickoff was awesome. Special teams has been much better with the exception of some poor tackling. Aric has improved his kicking and was the only one out there making nice tackles. Good show!

I thought he had two tackles on KO's and was in on another?
