IPS nailed the WV game wonder what week 6

Re: IPC nailed the WV game wonder what week 6

Actually, it the IPS, but thanks for the plug.

The IPS actually does project the scores for all future games, but I only post the ones for each week.

Looking ahead, the IPS currently has the Horns winning 51-11. That could change somewhat based on the outcomes of this weekends games, but it doesn't look good for your Buffs.

Eff you. I hope your big dumb mascot dies during the CU game right in front of a big dumb crowd.

Is there somewhere where you explain what the different numbers mean in your statistics section?

Thanks

now throw in a piss bomb and that is just about right

Re: IPC nailed the WV game wonder what week 6

Off = Team's offense scoring average
Def = Team's defense scoring average
OppO = Previous opponents' offensive scoring average
OppD = Previous opponents' defensive scoring average
OImp = Offense Impact (how much more the team scores vs. opponents' average)
DImp = Defense Impact (how much the team holds opponents' vs. their average)

The IPS then use the Offense Impact and Defense Impact to predict how the team will do against it's next opponent. For instance, the Buffs were scoring 4.7 points less than your previous opponents have allowed. WV had been giving up 27 points a game. So, the IPS predicted you'd score 22. Then, it does the same for your Defense Impact and vice versa with WV's factors. Average that all together, make adjustments for BCS or non-BCS, homefield .... And, the IPS comes up with the prediction of the score.

how do your predictions do straight up and ATS over the course of a CFB season?

Re: IPC nailed the WV game wonder what week 6

74% Straight up and 54% ATS. Not a real money-maker, but not bad for a purely statistical system. Note that the IPS does not make adjustments for injuries, weather, .... or possibly the biggest variable - what 18-21 year old kids will do any given weekend. But, that unpredictability is what makes college football so great!
