Any truth to this?

can't imagine there are too many carries at SC as loaded as they are at RB. UCLA makes more sense. at this point, with 4 carries last night, who could blame the kid?

I am surprised he doesn't go to Texas....more opportunity there than SC.

In all seriousness, has Scott really impressed anyone yet?.. I mean this guy was caught from behind by a Toledo player.. From what I've seen, its nearly impossible for anyone to say that he's better than Speedy and should be getting more carries than him..

You can be critical of Hawk for a lot of things, but I'm not sure this is one of them.. Not every big time recruit becomes a good player in college. Scott might be just one of those guys unfortunately.. :sad1:

USC fans don't even want him, hopefully they know how spoiled they are.

USC fans make me want to vomit. They generally don't know much about football and they just assume winning is their birthright. Stupid ass clowns don't even realize there was a time before Pete Carroll. At least I can grudgingly respect most Texas fans because football is a religion down there, friday night lights and all that.

Speedy would've been caught from behind last night on his TD run if he was any farther away. Doesn't make him a bad player imo. Sure DS came into town with 4.3 40 times and we haven't seen that, but what have we seen? The occassional big play when he gets in the game and a ton of injuries followed by him sitting around on the bench.

Don't forget he came in last year OUT OF SHAPE.. That's not on Hawk, its on him.

I see a lot passive play from what I've seen from Scott. I don't want to rip the guy, but to act like this guy is the next Adrian Peterson if he just got on the field is a little over the top. If he wasn't a top recruit, no one here would be wondering about his playing time. Bottom line he hasn't performed when he's been in there and he's been injury prone.

I agree with you most of the time but not on this. Scott might not be elite but there's a reason every program in the country wanted him. Hawk is withholding playing time to teach him a life lesson. This is a fact. Scott thought he could get by on his talent just like Josh Smith did and hawk put them in their places. Don't we all feel better now knowing that hawk is more interested in work ethic than victory?

So if he gets a medical redshirt this year or drops out now after playing sparingly in 3 games does he still have to sit out next year if he transfers?

that's not entirely accurate. what scott showed last year and parts of this year is flashes of greatness. the problem is that those flashes have generally been surrounded by long periods of inactivity or ineffectiveness.

but, those flashes have been tantalizing. and, when everyone is down on the staff for their player selections, when a guy on the bench is showing flashes of being really good here and there, you are going to get an outcry for more pt.

it is just like the backup qb being the most popular guy on the team with the fans when the team is struggling. it is just an axiom of fanhood.

i'd like to see what a healthy ds could do for 4 quarters, but i don't know when that will happen, considering the way the season is going.

Yeah, I can't defend him coming in out of shape. What I do disagree with you on, is him not performing when he has been in there. I'd say he has accounted for a fair number of bigger plays. By bigger plays I mean plays of 20+ yards which we get very few of. He simply hasn't been given the opportunity to prove himself. I mean we're 4 games into the season and he has like 18 total carries. I thought he looked pretty darn good on kickoff returns too, definitely not timid in style like you describe.

The NCAA isn't going to allow a medical redshirt 4 games into the season, imo, especially if he played last night and doesn't have a season-ending injury. He would definitely have to sit out a year.

Greatness? You got to be joking right.. Other than his highlight against A$M, I can't think of anything else that I've seen that was that impressive.

I don't want to fight about it, but I just happen to believe if Scott was as good as a lot of people on this board believe, he would be playing a lot.. I'm not buying Hawk is teaching him a life lesson or any of that stuff.

Lockridge last night looked better than him on the KR than Scott.

I think the DS case is special because it's not what most of the complaining is about currently. Nobody is saying DS should be taking carries away from RS. What I'm upset about is instead of getting DS and RS 30+ carries a game we're having Cody air it out 50 times which is just plain unacceptable. It isn't playing to our strength at all.

Darrell Scott is a bruiser. He needs an I formation and he needs a LOT of touches. I'd like to see what he does with 25 carries.

Unfortunately these stupid ****ing coaches would rather have 25 incompletions than give an RB 25 carries.

How so? On the season Scott has averaged about 26 yards per return with a long of 44 yards. Last night Lockridge averaged 25.5 yards per return with a long of 43 yards. Looks pretty similar to me.

So despite the fact that hawk has said himself that he teaches life lessons by witholding playing time, you think Darrell's just not very good. Fair enough. You've just indicted hawk for his miserable recruiting. Think of all the time, money and energy expended trying to get Scott to come here. Turns out hawk was totally wrong about DS and he'll have to content himself with being a role player from here on out.

I refuse to believe that Scott is a bust based soley on hawk's illustrious ability to judge talent. Speedy is the truth and that by nature will cut into DS's carries but no way do I believe that he's sitting right now because he's only the 3rd or 4th best option at tailback. For god's sake man there were NFL scouts drooling over DS coming out of highschool. I realize they can be wrong too but THIS wrong? No. It's hawk that's wrong. About everything.

Probably not... nothing on any of the other Colorado boards, and there's a sharp eye out for transfers from here on out.

They don't seem to get that DS is the type of player you build your offense around. The O-Line hasn't looked bad run blocking, and Scott has already proved he can run behind them(toledo). Start Hansen who has a stronger arm and can make plays with his feet, and that just opens up the run game even more. This staff is screwing the pooch right now.

i bet he does go i been saying that for a while ...why stay when hawk wont let him play i say he may end up @ ucla though....ill being watching all our former buffs @ ucla this will be what 1 a year last 3 years......go scott.....

??????

I digress about what i was going to say, but, doubt DS ends up at UCLA. I know it makes sense with uncle J-fly, but, I think theyre pretty loaded at RB.
