Shaking Things Up....

Would it hurt just to shake things up for a game? Why don't we put in some new players and try something new what can we lose from that. I'm sitting here disgusted by the way we've played this year, and disgusted that Coach Hawk hasn't given other players on the team a fair chance to play so he can see what they can actually do in a real game. We don't know how bad of a football team we are until we've played the other players who hasn't gotten a chance to play yet. Who knows we might actually turn out to be better...

It's not that easy.

This isn't intramural's brother. You just don't change dicks midstream.

Changing coaches, changing players, sure it might make a one or two game difference. But it won't amount to anything in the long run.

I would much rather Bohn take his time, sort through all the options, and find someone we can all be excited about and be proud of.

Here's the real reason Cody's staying in the games. From the Camera.

Cody Hawkins career watch
Colorado quarterback Cody Hawkins moved into third place on the school's career passing yards list Thursday passing Koy Detmer. Hawkins has thrown for 5,630 yards in less than 21/2 seasons as the starter.
Hawkins needs just two more touchdown passes to become the school's career leader in that category. He has thrown 43 touchdown passes, including two Thursday. Former Buff Joel Klatt threw for 44 in three seasons as the starter.

If memory serves, he did most of that damage as a freshman. He was actually servicable at that time. Now he hops around in the pocket like he has a spider in his jock.

I predicted he would do this back during his frosh year... I was hoping under better circumstances

ADJUSTMENTS!?!?!?!?!?!

"have you ever coached football before?" Why would you change something when you're so close to a BCS team, one play away...

And what do you base this on? Or is this just another echo chamber post.

I don't think it would be fair to do on the road against an opponent like Texas. Some of the players would feel like the coaches were throwing the team to the wolves. If you are going to do that you could try at home against KU.

it will be a sad day when cody hawkins owns any of cu's passing records
I reall think Cody is giving his all and is having some stat success.

It wasn't Cody or his half of the team that allowed WVU's Devine a career-high 220 yards running!

No but it was Cody and his half that managed a measly 3 points off of four WV first half fumbles.

Hmmmmm

How about DS standing on the sidelines while Sumler gets carries.
And before you say the requisite "Well DS has been injured", let's not forget that Juicebox has been having him return kicks and he's still averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Yet for some reason, he's only been given the rock 17 times (that's less than Sumler!!)

How about Espy returning kicks, even while injured with a broken thumb, while Lockridge is clearly the more explosive return guy (evidenced at WVU)

How about 64% of Cody's completed passes going to only Scotty, Espy and Geer? (these stats are legit, feel free to verify)

How about Scotty being the ONLY WR to catch a pass against WVU until 6 mins left in the game?

How about Simmons catching only 1 pass this entire season?

How about Darden & Ussery never seeing the field?

Why isn't Juicebox letting our 'inexperienced' skill players see the field during garbage time?

Why is Juicebox keeping his starting qb in games that are already decided, thereby risking sever injury (Toldeo concussion) and depriving our future qb's the opportunity to get game experience.

Chilly, you've been steadfast in your support of the Hawkins regime. IF you can coherently answer and rebut each of these seemingly aloof coaching/personnel moves, I will personally join you to fight your defend Dan Hawkins crusade.

True, they left plenty of points on the field. I'm just saying you have to play on both sides of the ball. Too much slapping around Cody as if it's all his fault.

Obviously lots of this is coaching, but Cody is a major part of our offensive ineptitude

I certainly don't think it is all his fault but it is pure BS that a guy who throws 40 5-yard curls/game will be passing anyone on the charts, especially now that we are going to be averaging 3-4 wins/year.

Absolutely non of the BS you posted has any bearing on whether or not Hawkins has given someone a "fair" shot.

DS averaged 1.3 carries last game and has not looked as explosive as Rodney Stewart EVER. DS sits on the bench because Speedy is a better back.

Espy has caught every single punt he has been back for. Every SINGLE one! Unless one of you clowns can tell me you have sat through practices an watched the other players fielding punts as well as Espy has, the BS about not getting a fair shake is just that BS.

The bottom line is this board is full of con artist who think they know something, but guess what you guys don't know ****. You only have opinions, and you opinions are based on nothing more than parroting what other people say. This board has become officially devoid of any kind of independent thought and observations. Instead we just through a bunch of **** out there as fact and expect everyone to buy into it.

Well guess what I don't. Is Hawkins the right buy for our program. Crap I don't know, but this BS about favoritism or not playing the guys he thinks can win us game is just that.

We sit and watch 3 1/2 hours of football and we make statements like DS is a bruiser has needs to run out of the I. Really? Based on what fact. I have yet to see Darrell Scott run out of the I and become a dominating bruiser as the game has worn on.

Oh yeah this is where Allbuffs will jump in and say, that is the point, he hasn't gotten the chance. It's a big circle jerk. Please just once I want on of you clown to tell me just what EVIDENCE you post is based on. Not some jackass assertion based on watching this team for 3 1/2 hours on TV. If DS is a bruiser, please point me towards some game film where he has shown that. If he runs better out of the I-formation, which practice did you attend where he showed this.

I Lockridge is better at punt returns, please explain to me what you have seen, other than his kick returns on Saturday.

Quit being parrots of the same 'ol crap. Give something concrete other than typical fan hindsight talk.

Bottom line on why I support Hawkins. He runs a clean program and he sets the bar high for his kids. I am sick of what College Football has become with the win at all costs, and forget what is really important and that is being a student athelete. I am tired of Universities being defined by their Football programs, instead of enhanced by their programs. I am tired of sports fans who think they know so much about he sports they watch, yet couldn't tell you which side of the jock strap goes in front. I am tired of sports fans who think that it's ok to have players like Mike Vick on your team as long as you are winning. Do I support Hawkins? Damn Straight. It is about time a coach with moral character demands that his kids hold themselves accountable for their actions, gets a chance build a long term winning program. Someone like Hawkins deserves the chance to put HIS senior laden team on the field and show if he can win or not with his kids. Yes it's year 4. Next year is year 5 and that is when he will have had one full recruiting cycle with redshirts, and he has earned the chance to show us what he can do as a coach with those kids.

He has not earned all the BS disrespect that gets thrown around here, by a bunch of second rate, backward jack strap, wannabes. He HAS built this program the right way. He has done right by the University of Colorado, and he has not waiver from his convictions. He should be applauded for this, not tared and feathered. I know losing sucks and the University may chose to get rid of him at the end of this year. But he deserves better that what many of the posters on this board are giving him.

He has not SOLD out this University in the name of wins like Slick Rick did, he did not allow a culture of boys will be boys to run rampant within his program like Barnett did. He has held his players to a high standard. If anything he is guilty of setting the bar to high. For that I applaud him.

As for the rest of the posters on this board who don't have the ability to define themselves by anything other than wins or loses by a football program, I really feel for you guys.

Maybe if you have the time Saturday we can sit and have a beer sometime before the game and talk football.

Why is this BS? Records are what they are. Is it his fault this is the Offense he played in?

You know what a shame is have a convicted murder being in your records books. THAT is pure BS.

I will take Cody in my record books any day of the week if he did through hard work and while representing my University to the best of his ability.

Your post SUCKS

It's never a sad say to see a kid who has busted his butt for our Buffs climb his way up the record charts.

Nice sentiment, and I want to agree, but what if we are losing games because the wrong person is playing?

BTW, bashing Cody is pointless, none of this is his fault. He has a given set of skills, just like everyone else on the team. It's all on the coaches to develop talent and game plans that exploit our talent.

You have a good point Chilly and I do think Hawk has done a great job of cleaning up the program. However, you dont have to sell out the school to get wins. You have to do your job and it is part of his job. This isnt the University of Baylor when you can compete every 20 years. CU football is huge to this school and successful CU football is even bigger. I think everyone wishes that Hawk can get it done, it's just he hasnt shown much for anyone to think he can.

I understand that. But the constant bashing any ridiculing and public flogging he is getting is undeserved.

Should we be critical of the season so far. Yes we should. Should we run him out of town with red hot poker up his ass. NO. He deserves to be treated with some amount of respect for the things he has done. Maybe he doesn't get Colorado football back to where we want to be in the Win/Loss Column, but to project that he is losing on purpose and intentionally trying to lose at Colorado is a bogus assertion.

I get venting after a loss. It does the soul good. But what has been going on around here for the last 4 weeks is not venting. It is witch hunting.

I love me a good witch hunt... as long as I'm not the witch

The worst of it was the crap following the WYO game.

Do you know which side of a jock strap is which? I doubt it since instead of saying anything intelligent you just launch into personnel attacks on others. Is that the way you defend your position by putting everyone else down and saying they don't know what they are talking about.

You are as guilty as anyone about throwing BS out there to see if it sticks. Your attack on Barnett shows that you have no problem throwing recriminations out there when it suits you. Barnett cared deeply about academics getting 100% graduation rate with one of his classes - something he did twice in his career once with NW and once at CU...Hawkins has never approached Barnett's APR score. As far as off the field problems - Hawkins has seen more than a few under his watch - it happens.

Hawkins has not built a program in my opinion and I have a right to voice my opinions on these boards as much as you.

Chilly, Thank you for your unwavering support of Dan Hawkins. You and I have spoken via PM about this before - Hawkins has done a lot for the school and I believe most fans are very appreciative of that...BUT what you keep writing is frighteningly more repetitive than anything that we've been writing as our Buffaloes continue to be embarrassed. What we are writing about is a culmination of 14-27. By the end of year 4, that number realistically could be 16-33. This is the University of Colorado - while we may not be USC or UF or Ohio State, we're also NOT Baylor or Syracuse or Miami (OH) - WE HAVE A PROUD HISTORY, WE HAVE A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - it's totally ok and good that our fans should expect more than 14-27.

Your argument about Hawkins running a clean program is garbage. There are plenty of D1 College Coaches who can both run a clean program AND WIN GAMES. Do you need examples?

Let me ask you this: we're 1-3 heading into #2 Texas. By all accounts, we won't win more than 4 games. Do you agree? If so (which you must unless you really haven't watched a game this year), then what is wrong with getting our younger players involved in the game? Why not put in WRs other than Espy & Scotty during garbage time to get experienced?

Same goes with the qb and RBs.

Why not Chilly?

Yep you got me pegged. Don't even know what a jock strap looks like.

AI did not attack Barnett or Ricky. They wrote their own legacy at CU. I had nothing to do with it. So if you don't like where their **** is sticking I would take that up with them.

As far as voicing your opinion. go for it. Never asked you to stop. But voicing opinions is not what has been going on around here. What has been going on is Character assassination. This board can continue to feel free to continue down that path as well, I don't own or control anything. But I think it is poor form.

I dont think he is losing on purpose, I just think he thought this was gonna be like Boise and it isnt. He is actually gonna have to do some coaching this time around and, adjustments wise, I havent seen it. At Boise, I have watched them a ton mind you, his players were better in almost every area than anyone in their conference by far. Saying that, he really didnt need to adjust much, just let the talent take over. Maybe he is a work in progress, I dont know, thats up to Hawk. If he is, he is moving at a snail's pace and that **** dont fly at CU. Everybody involved in this program wants to win and not at all costs but they wanna win.
