Coaching Losses?

Re: the current condition of CU football a lot has been said about the possibility of losing players, potentially poor recruiting, loss of donations and fan base...but as far as I know have heard nothing about losing coaches. What are the odds that certain coaches that have viability will be looking to go elsewhere? I wonder how far loyalty can go on a coaching staff when they have to tolerate stupidity from the head coach. The water cooler would be an interesting place to be in the Dal Ward center.

I wouldn't really worry about it, if and when Hawk get's canned the new coach will likely clean house... minus Cabral and Hagan imo

IMO Cabral is the only guy worth worrying about.

I loved Hagen as a player, but can anyone tell me why we are in love with the guy as a RB coach?

I think the new coach needs to be given the ability to completely clean house. That includes Hagan and Cabral. As much as I love those guys and appreciate what they've done for the program, I think the new guy needs to be able to bring in whoever he wants.

A love for Colorado, young and energetic personality all players can relate to (better then Denver Johnson for example imo), a minority coach. The new coach must keep him

Although those are admiral traits they don't necessarily mean someone is qualified to coach. Hagan strength seems to be recruiting but he needs to make his presence felt on the staff in other ways. Maybe Hawkins is muting him. EB had a lot of those same traits but he also was a presence on the sideline firing players up, calling players out, the man was a force not to be ignored.

So far everyone is making the assumption that Hawkins won't be at CU next year. I am not so sure this will be the case even if he screws the pooch the rest of the season. When universities are struggling with faculty and staff furloughs and extreme budget situations, it puts the president and chancellor in a tenuous position if they spend 3-5 million firing and hiring a football coach. Their first priority is to maintain their positions and I am not sure they can stand the wrath of the faculty senate. Now, I know that football and basketball can be and are the public face of DI universities and winning produces income and exposure. National championships and division titles are directly related to increases in undergraduate applications and enrollment. But, I am not sure the president is willing to fall on his sword for this. Most likely the rise in applications would come under a different president.

Sorry for the ramble

My vote is to keep Hagan. But regardless, he has stated that he couldn't see himself working for anyone else other then the Colorado athletic department... so maybe as a on-campus recruiting coordinator?

I've said this before: I would not want a coach who would not want Cabral on his staff. I don't care who "his guy" is, there is no better LB coach in the country and no more dedicated Buff than Brian Cabral.
