A few choice paragraphs:

Said Higgins, whose rep as Colorado's most versatile men's hoopster now might have a serious challenger: "It was like 'wow' . . . he's going to definitely help us. He walked in and the first time we played against each other, I knew definitely he was going to start."

When Relphorde, a native Chicagoan, arrived in June (he took two classes to get acclimated academically), he said he sensed a collective hunger for improvement among his teammates.

"That's one thing we talk about a lot . . . all the guys from last year, (say) it's just time for this program to step up," he said. "Just looking at how a lot of the athletics this year may be struggling a little bit, the ones that normally are up, we feel like this is the perfect time for CU basketball to kind of pick it up and give fans something they can come out to and watch a win and get this school back on the map - especially in basketball."

We need him to step up this year. No one expects anything from this team, but I think we can be a mid-pack Big 12 team.

Being a mid pack B12 team would be a major step up. But I doubt that'll happen. I'm just hoping we make it out of the cellar.

I consider mid-pack anywhere from 6-8 or so. I think it is realistic to make that jump. Gotta be more consistent on the offensive end though.

Yep. Baylor finished 9th at 5-11 last year in-conference. 8th (Nebraska) was 8-8, so it was really top heavy. I'm expecting 5-7 wins. Add that to 9+ in the non-conference and we're in a postseason tourney.

My preseason prediction is that we'll head into the Big 12 tourney needing a win to make it into the NIT.

By "no one" you mean the dipsh#t media-types---the kind who voted kNU #15 and VaTech #4, in last week's FB poll!

This team has some talent, (they finally have some competition in practice) two excellent coaches and a chip on their colective shoulders.

I say watch out! They're gonna sneak up on a lot of folks in the Big!2 this season.

Relphorde plays a position that is likely to get him on the floor early and nothing acclimates you like actual game minutes....so, i'd give him the advantage. Burks will have to win it in practice against more experienced guys.

I like the fact that 2 different media gusy are picking to different guys to "be the man"...nice to have options.

Doubly nice to have 2 newcomers with potential to be that impactful when you already return 4 starters and your top 5 scorers from last season.
