Feel like amidst all the TH hoopla, this kids game has not gotten the recognition it deserves. He played lights ****ing out.

We are so lucky we got him... Rewatched the highlights... and that kid had some amazing runs. Both TD runs were impressive, hell, I still don't know how he made the 1st TD happen, ****ing submarined through half their team. Spin moves, literally throwing guys off of him, amazing balance down the sideline on a toss play... This kid is awesome. to him.

he still scares with his fumbleitis... that fumble he had easily could have cost us the game. he still played lights out but it seems like he fumbles every game

As I said in the Scott thread Speedy definitely emerged as the #1 RB. For the first time in all of the time I've been watching him he shed guys off of him and got YAC. The guy seriously needs to add about 10-15lbs more bulk and he'll be a bruiser (for his size. See Rodgers at OSU).

:gobuffs:

Fumbleitis? Stewart has anything but fumbleitis. I think this was the first time he has dropped the rock this season.

Yeah he also gets ton of yards after contact, way more than any of our other backs but according to NM, Kansas was the first time that happened.

I still contend that yesterday was the first time he broke tackles, not just arm tackles on a consistent basis. He makes guys miss that's why they are arm tackles. I don't know how many times Ive seen him break a good run but the last guy tripped him up or made the tackle. He just ran over people on his TD runs last night. Looked like a guy that could get those tough, short yards which is why he usually isn't out on those plays. Guy is a gamer. Tough as **** and I love seeing him make progress.

Agree...he was not only making guys miss, but busting through a few tackles in the process...that last touchdown run was an awesome example of this as the KU LB that he busted through at the line of scrimmage laid on the ground pounding his fist for awhile because he couldn't believe that little guy just blew right threw him.

I'm attributing that to better down-field blocking schemes.

he had a couple runs where a guy was draped all over him and he just bulled through him or literally pushed him off... it wasn'g blocking.

hope his ankle is ok :(

DS starts first series. Run off tackle right and it's well blocked. A DB comes up to make a play and tackles him at the LOS. SPeedy beats that guy untouched imo.

next play, DS actually moves, but refs don't see it....

Speedy comes in, gets yards.

Great job.

I just don't like it when the coaches run him up the middle....the 3 or 4 times they did he probably lost yardage. It's not utilizing his strengths as thats not his game (they might only do it to keep the linebackers on the inside). He's much better running on the outside. The best play of the game was the last touchdown run where he paused for a second in the backfield, waited for a hole to emerge and then went right through full speed. It was an NFL type run. The great thing about Stewart is he has incredible vision, probably his best attribute. His speed and strength are fantastic but he has the vision to find the holes and space to make the great plays.

I think by the end of the season he could be an All Conference running back.

Big time kudos to Stewart. But he and Sumler are probably getting a lot of passing drills this week.

This. Cannot catch, both of those, huge drops.

Cannot catch, or were surprised to see a ball thown more than 5 yards past the line of scrimmage?

Have to get used to keeping the play alive and what to do with a broken play with Hansen in there. You see what Reesings WRs did when he scrambled-- CUs looked like "We are used to the ball going to Scotty on a broken play, or it is a sack" and did not respond as smoothly as the KU WRs. I think that will work itself out in the next couple of weeks.

:yeahthat: Buffs need to do some practicing on staying in the play twice as long and making something happen

I am watching the game for the first time this morning. There was a graphic that came up at 3:12 remaining in the first quarter when Speedy took one outside and broke one or two. The graphic said that 155 of his 310 yards this season have come after contact. Just adding to the debate...
