When you are up 24-3, you can't let the other team back in it. We made too many mistakes in the second half. Also, I know Reesing and his receivers are good, but, man, you can't let 'em march the length of the field at the end of the first half. If we had played mistake free, we'd have won by a couple of TD's. The two fumbles in the KU end of the field almost did us in. Just cannot let those things happen.

Has Meier been playing for KU for 8 years? Man, it seems like he's been burning us for ****ing ever. I'm glad to see him and Reesing go.

yeppers those two dudes will be gone next year, woohoo, KU should easier next year.

Yeah, those fumbles hurt us. OTOH, a good part of our lead was built on a fumble and pick that gave us very short fields in the first half. The turnovers probably balanced out, overall... The real killer was letting Reesing get in a groove at the end of the first half. Early on our pressure had him back on his heels. After we gave him a drive with no pressure against the prevent he was red-hot the rest of the night.... :sad2:

Reesing is a gamer. I liked how we came back too. People forget I think that KU took the lead and we retook it, you gotta give the team credit for that!

Quit being so negative and attacking players. Buffs win and all you can do is complain.

Also, I love Beatty, but that off sides on fourth down can't happen. Especially from a linebacker.

And a couple of things on the officiating. The holding call that stopped our drive, pretty much, before our second FG was BS. The incomplete call on Simas that was reviewed and held up was also bogus.

I wish you'd stop being so negative. What's up with all this analysis of player performance? I thought that was off limits.

This just seems to be a trend by Hawkins teams, either we come back to win, or we just cannot maintain leads and are lucky to hang on, or in many cases lose the game in general. Its a problem that has to be addressed. The only wins where we've really dominated the entire game over the past two seasons are Colorado State and Wyoming.

But look at the close wins. Eastern Washington, Kansas, West Virginia, Kansas State, Iowa State.

I realize a win is a win, but this is a growing trend among our team that makes me nervous about Hawkins in ball games where we are ahead. Look at the Texas game this season, Nebraska last season. We just don't maintain leads very well, and that boils down to coaching. Its up to the coaches to make sure the team is prepared mentally to not make stupid penalties, or to protect the ball. Its the coaches job to keep the team mentally in the game in order to get the win, not just settle for a lead at halftime. We've come out flat in the 2nd half over the past two games.

Someone else said it in another post, but I want to see Hawkins and the Colorado team play for 4 quarters. Almost every game we're playing 2-3 quarters of great football with quarters of absolute awful football. And the great quarters are squashed by the awful ones. This is what makes me second guess Hawkins for the remainder of the year. Even if we miraculously make a bowl game, but with 4-5 wins where we either come back or nearly implode, I will continue to remain skeptical about Hawkins fit at this school.

The Defense has clearly shown the "Killer Instinct" imo. I just hope Collins can keep this up.

This team just needs to play 4 quarters, the offense has sputtered in the second half points wise in every game with the exception of toledo. The defense the last 4 games have been outstanding in the first half but has given up a bunch of points and yds with the exception of texas.

If they can be more consistent in the 2nd half, this team might make a bowl game after all.
