Assuming we get a new coach at the end of the season, who, if anyone, would you like to see retained?

Which assistants would you like to see retained?

I would move Kiesau and Brown ahead of Hagan, but otherwise I agree.

I kind of think Hagan gets a pass for being a former Buff. Im not sure, if he played at Kansas or something, I wouldnt be calling for his head. :huh:
Cabral and Brown. The only two proven coaches on staff. Period.
The rest are all fair game.
Bandison is a decent coach, despite all the heat he gets. The DL was supposed to absolutely terrible, but in a dim season, they have played pretty well.
Kiesau and Hagan are good recruiters, but I've not seen enough from them coaching wise to indicate they should stay.
Ambrose? Maybe, seeing as how he's technically not a coach and could be a great asset, but if he's being "taught" how to coach WRs from Hawk, then I'm scared of what he may have to unlearn.
The rest are all fair game.

You know honest right now with Hawkins at coach you can't really have a true evaluation on the assitants.
We all thought Mark Helfrich was a douche look at what he's doing at Oregon.
But i'd keep Cabral and Ambrose i'm not even sure Hagan should stay he has not made the same affect on our RB's like Bienemy had.

Sykes is a coach too right? In some form? I like former buffs on the staff and he could eventually succeed Cabral when he retires.

I would like to see Cabral retained. But I would not be terribly upset if a new coach did a 100% overhaul.

Would Cabral make a decent D coordinator? What if the deciding factor to bring in a new coach was that he wanted to bring in a guy and make him the LB's coach?
I think it should be up to the staff to dictate who (if any) he wants to keep.
I also am wondering that since Helfrich left we seem to be calling the same plays, play action on 3rd and long, pass plays with Sumler in, etc. I wonder how many plays Hawkins overrules that Keisau calls in.

NONE, they all SUCK.
Maybe that's why it takes so ****ing long to get the play into the huddle...
Cabral is the only one I have no reservations about wanting back. I'd be very disappointed if the new coach doesn't keep him.
Brown would be ok, although I can't quite forget the atrocious DB play early in the year. I know they were young and Collins did some stupid things, but Brown still has to be in that picture.
Kiesau is a maybe. He can recruit, and the new coach can determine if he's the idot on the offensive staff or if that goes all the way to the top.
Hagan can stay, only if we hire a coach that plans to run the option and DH can help coach option QBs. Other than that, he frankly seems to be a disaster as a coach (2 years and his players haven't learned to pass block?? really??)
The rest - no reason not to just start over. EVen if they're ok, they're nothing special...

One consideration we haven't discussed is recruiting. To keep our current commitments and the main targets we are looking at, the following 3 coaches are the only ones that matter:
Cabral
Hagan
Kiesau (actually a good WR coach if he'd stay on with a demotion)
Cabral
Hagan

Cabral would be nice. However, just nice. Love the guy, but this program can't dick around with a new coach. Let them do what they want, don't drive candidates away with stupid heart strings.
By now we've all concluded that there is more to than meets the eye with this team and this HC. Given the recent news about 6am practices, the constant comings and going of Cody Hawkins, and so forth. I suspect there is a lot of interference going on.....

The new coach HAS to be given the opportunity to redo all coaching positions according to who he wants. Of course, the AD can recommend certain people to stay on with him, but the ultimate call has to be the head coach's. I think he'd keep Cabral and Brown - they're sort of no-brainers in my opinion.
If I were the new coach, I'd keep Cabral and Brown. I'd keep Kiesau as a WR coach if he accepted, and maybe Ambrose. Then, I'd look into what certain alumni are doing around the nation in terms of coaching and see how well they'd fit and if I could fit them in.

I can't see anyone coming in and firing Cabral, so I'm not going to worry about it.
Bandison? Maybe. Leave it up to the new chief. If we hire Strong or Smart, they'll probably want to bring in their own DL coach.
Hagan - As a recruiter, yes. Coach? No.
Brown - I like him, and he's a Buff, but have a hard time coming up with reasons why he should be the secondary coach. Can't afford a weak secondary in this conference. We also haven't signed a decent safety in a quite a while. Part of why I think Kirby Smart would be a good hire - NFL experience coaching DB's, and might be able to bring an experienced coach in who could recruit the 4* safeties.
I don't think anyone else on the staff deserves the bandwidth.

Cabral. It shows the new HC has respect for a rich history of linebacking at CU and Coach Cabral has brought the most consistency to any position this decade.
After that, it's up to the new guy to assemble his own staff but my preference for retention is in this order.

Hagan, especially for recruiting purposes and keeping consistency with our current RBs and Mister Jones.

?!?! You should read up on Brown first. He's an amazing secondary coach - his long track record speaks volumes. I think he may be up for a coordinator's position, but if he's fine with being a position coach (which he seems to be), more power to him. He's great, and we're fortunate that he on his free will, decided to call up Hawk and ask about the job. Also, although he loves the state of CO and CU, he has sort of been bounced around a lot - he's not a Buff like Cabral is a Buff (not alum, no long history here, etc.)
A lot of people have mentioned Sykes. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Sykes technically isn't a coach right? Therefore, isn't his job status more of a Bohn decision? I'd like to see him retained and given a chance to be a defensive intern, if he wants it.
