Ohio TE favors Syracuse and Colorado

Tight end Justin Favors (Trotwood, Ohio/Madison) has scholarship offers from Syracuse, Colorado, Kent State, Toledo and Bowling Green.

"All five (offers) are in writing," Favors said. "I like all five, but so far I'm really looking at Colorado and Syracuse.

"At Syracuse the tight ends are not that tall, about 6-foot-3. And they have a new coach coming in. The Colorado campus looks great and I'd like to get away from home a little."

The 6-4, 225-pound Favors said those two schools are tied at the top of his list. However, there is at least one other school Favors hopes to receive a scholarship offer from.

"The school I'd really like to go to is Wisconsin," Favors said. "I like the way they use the tight end."

Favors said he would like to select a college around the middle of the football season.

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors

Wouldn't mind him being the second TE in the class at all.

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors

Favors is visiting this weekend.

Other than Harold Mobley (who might end up at DE) and Christian Thomas (who is an all-world pipe dream), Favors is the only TE that CU is known to be recruiting. This would be an important commitment for us. We need at least 2 TEs in this class.

Also, kudos to Hagan for continuing to build a pipeline into Ohio for CU. I'm not sold on Hagan as a position coach, but I'd love him as a recruiting coordinator.

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

Favors is a Buff!

From ESPN "On the Trail":

Ohio tight end Justin Favors heading to Boulder, Colo.
Justin Favors (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison), a three-star prospect, committed to sign with Colorado following an official visit to campus, NittanyNetwork.com's Bill Kurelic reports.

"What I liked best was the game. liked the atmosphere and the campus. And the players welcomed me in," Favors said. "They are graduating six tight ends. They need tight ends to come in. They told me I've got a chance to play next season if I work hard."

Syracuse, Toledo, Ohio, Kent State and Bowling Green also offered. He has an official visit scheduled for The Orange, but is unsure of whether he'll make it.

:woot: :woot: :woot:

WooHoo!! We beat Toledo!!

(fine, I'll roll eyes at myself...)

I love the fact that the kid chose to be a Buff, but c'mon. We're duking it out against the MAC for recruits now?

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

Syracuse has one of the best tight end coaches in the nation (came from the NFL with the new head coach this year). I take it as a very good sign that we're targeting the same tight ends they are with Favors and Slavin... and that we've beat them for both guys.

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

Welcome to the Black and Gold (with a little blue sprinkled in for historical value) Mr. Favors!

Woot!

I'd take everyone of Toledo's skill guys. Especially their 6-4 WRs.

Rivals indicates that he has a Cincinnati offer as well. So thats a little better.

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

Speedy was a recruit who only had MAC offers. If he can be Speedy like at the TE position I would be extremely happy!

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

wow we needed a TE in this class pretty badly, hopefully we get one more guy (possibly a blocking TE).

This is the second one already (dont forget the kid from chatfield), or did you mean a third TE?

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

I'd like to see the staff take one more TE this cycle. Graduation is gonna put a major dent in the TE pool. 3 recruits this time around, with 2 who will redshirt and one getting some pt as a frosh.

no, I completely forgot about that kid. I think 2 is good for this class. Now lets get a super fast WR, and banger RB, some o-line and d-line and a few DBs and call it a class.

I can only imagine how impressed Hawk has to be with the talent he has seen in the MAC and MWC this season.

Has to be wanting to get some of that on his sideline. Real lunchpail type fo guys.

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

We just won a recruiting battle against Cincinnati, the home town team that went to a BCS bowl game last year and is undefeated with a top 5 ranking this year. Are some people just trying to find things to get upset about these days? ****.

Florida fans ain't happy either man.

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

I just wish I had any faith we could win a coaching battle with Cincinnati

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

Welcome to the BnG. We desperately need TE's this class. Hopefully Walters gets a medical redshirt and is good for next yr

I was thinking that, too. Not that he'll win a Mackey Award or anything, but a 6th year senior would help stabilize the unit and provide leadership while the young guys developed.

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

Is Rivals slow on the trigger finger these days? Not showing him as a commit, yet.

Re: '10 OH TE Justin Favors (Committed to Colorado)

Rivals was waiting for him to confirm personally (they'd only talked to mom). They've got him committed now.

Also, Favors picked up another BCS offer this week (Louisville). His commitment is relatively soft, as he plans to still visit Syracuse and maybe Louisville.
