Colorado`s players -- remember, these are college students -- can`t help but think ahead to the possibilities out in paradise. They also acknowledge that it will be difficult to have success at the nation`s most prestigious preseason tournament if they don`t enter the event brimming with the confidence an unblemished record provides.

In order for the Buffs to have a swagger about them in Maui, Bzdelik`s team must take care of business tonight against a talented Texas Southern team at the Coors Events Center (7 p.m., FSN).

"I think it`s extremely important to win this game because of the confidence," Cory Higgins said. "We`re going to be playing a great team every night and that confidence will help us out that much more."

CU is 2-0 after dining on cupcakes Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Coppin State. Bzdelik insists the Tigers -- led by Whitworth "Junior" Treasure -- are a much different animal.

"They`re long. They`re athletic. They`re a very good basketball team. This will be a big test for us," Bzdelik said. "They`re quicker, longer, more athletic and skilled than anybody we`ve played this year."

Treasure has been a nice find for the Texas Southern coaching staff, of which former Denver Nuggets guard Nick Van Exel is a member. The senior is averaging 24 points per game.

"He could play for anybody in thenation," Bzdelik said.

=============

This should be a good test tonight. I'll be eager to see if we can limit 2nd chance points and keep our turnovers down against a more athletic team. Starting 3-0 would be huge for these guys. Game's on FSN at 7pm if you can't make it to the CEC.

How do they look tonight?
I'm not a huge baskeball guy, but I think they are showing some flashes of good things to come. Higgins looks almost effortless. Thomlinson has hit some threes from down under. The Hornbuckle kid looks like he'll be good. We are up by 12 with 11:00 to go.

We are playing some ****ty defense at times and were standing around a lot on offense in the first half. I don't get this "Princeton" system. I thought guys were supposed to continually cut to the basket, but I don't see that so much.

Excellent so far...but where did the silver uniforms come from? Perhaps this has been discussed....but, seems out of whack with black and gold...hell, baby blue would look better than silver....

This is where we start to grow up.
ThATS THE ATTITUDE! We are going to have lots of chances to grow up this year. But I sure think, not knowing much, for sure, that we look much more athletic than in years past.

Texas Southern is not a bad team....let's pull this bitch out, baby!!!!!!!

Very frustrating. We are getting killed on the boards.

That's always been my concern with Buzz's system. They don't end up with true inside guys who can dominate on the glass.

But this looks like a good young team. Even with this second half run by TSU the buffs have some talent that's worth getting excited about from the looks of things.

Higgins and Burks could be an excellent 1-2 punch by the end of the year...

Man, Higgins is good. 9-12. And, this year, if the other team doubles him, we have guys that can burn them.

Nice win!!! Going into the game thought this was a toss-up game. Except for that 2nd half run, we were clearly the better team. Boooosh.

Easy for me to say...but let's get more fans into Coors. What else do students have going on Wednesday nights? I remember trudging my sorry ass from Libby Hall over to the games....
