He'll make decent passes and hit his free throws but he thinks he's better than he actually is. Poor coaching decision to leave him in down the stretch. He had 2 costly turnovers. Not impressed at all. Thorne should have been in late in game.

He also had 7 assists to go with those 2 turnovers and was hitting his free throws (6-7). Bad shooting day for him (1-5), though in his defense a couple misses were because he had to chuck one up as the shot clock expired.

I believe we have to be patient with Nate. He's our only true point guard, his AST-TO ratio is worlds better than last year, he can shoot a bit, and he's very good on the defensive glass for a guard. The more minutes he earns as the season progresses, the better off we'll be. And he's just a soph, too.

Honestly I think Tomlinson will be a backup his entire career at CU. Had it not been because of the injury, Sharpe would probably be getting a lot more minutes than Tomlinson at the point. I think Tomlinson has an ego. To be taking the last shot of the game the way he was playing was not smart at all. Higgins should have had the ball in his hands the last 2 minutes every possession. Especially with 19 seconds to go.

I'm in the minority here, but I think Tomlinson is already a pretty good player, and is only going to get better. It was a shame he panicked at the end...

IMO nobody on the team is as good as him at pushing the ball up the floor during a press, and getting the offense going. He needs to work on his jump shot, and quit the stupid mistakes.

just want to revisit the thread now that he dropped 20 on Zona, with 7 assists. He had a couple of turnovers, but the kid is young and will only get better. Look how Thorne has improved since his Freshman year.

Who was the guy who had the steal / fast break near the end of the game where he was one-on-one with an Arizona defender, and rather than passing the ball out to set up the offense or dishing off to someone to get a cleaner shot, he went up and got stuffed?

Yeah, that was Keegan. Typical freshman mistake as he learns what he can get away with on this level versus high school and AAU.

he also choked away the game again

so he was the one that allowed zona to make 14 3 pointers. Remember that this is only his 5th game in college his last two chokes have been against teams that both made the sweet 16 last year.

The only bad play I saw Tomlinson make was the turnover in the paint late in the game. Was that the event that everyone is describing as a "choke" job?

With 19 seconds left vs. Gonzaga......you always put the ball into your best player's hands in late game situations. Higgins is the star, Tomlinson needs to know he is the 3rd or 4th option, not the #1 option.

It looks like he beat everyone down the floor and went in to get a fowl but changed his mind and the guy pulled the chair from under him when he had his back turned to him. The Zag guy made a great play and hopefully Tomlinson learned not to push it is it is not there.

You're right. He had a bad play there. McClain said in his interview after the game that Nate would tell you as much (that he either needed to go up strong or pull it out, but not get caught in No Man's Land).

Maybe I'm over sensitive when it comes to Nate, but it seems to me that people are really hard on the guy. Maybe it's a carry over from last year when he didn't have a good year, but we fans seem to expect way to much from Freshmen and Sophomores at CU. We seem to write off guys way too quickly as being busts.
