Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Humphrey was a completely off-the-radar prospect prior to his senior year. But he is absolutely blowing up now. Offers from Colorado, Baylor, Kansas and Miami(OH) with Florida State and Nebraska scheduled to visit the HS in Dallas to check him out.

Rivals has a new article:

Through 11 games he has had 77 total tackles, 18 sacks, 27 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, one interception and three defensive touchdowns.

Rivals also has some senior year video (premium content). Humphrey can move for a guy his size.

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Humphrey's coach just got his film out about a month ago. Because there was no film, he had been unrated despite his amazing senior year stats.

ESPN just rated him a 4*, but Rivals and Scout have not reported yet (but Scout did finally add him to its database).

Scout also posted a new article this week http://missouri.scout.com/2/926029.html in which Colorado is the first school Humphrey names among the schools that have offered.

He also had this to say:

"I want to go to a place where I can help start establishing a great program.”

3-9 may be helping us here. Plus, Nate Bonsu is from Allen, TX which is a town only about 25 miles from Dallas. He'd have someone on the DL with him with a similar background and only 1 year older. Could be a nice fit.

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

This is the type of DL recruit we need to make this class successful. Added bonus is that he is from Texas. Glad we are getting a visit.

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

And obviously Humphrey thinks it would be a nice fit, too...

Visit scheduled for January 22nd weekend!

I was afraid to get too excited about him because of the offer list and the unbelievable competition for him, but CU's in excellent shape. This would be a marquis "get" for the program. Not only a great player, but also making serious inroads into Dallas.

which coach is making these Texas inroads?

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Romeo Bandison has been recruiting Texas pretty hard for us. Denver Johnson has also been focused there. Ambrose is often involved when it's the Houston area even though he's got SEC country as his primary area.

Frankly, Texas has been a bit of an unfocused team effort for us in the past (and it showed in our results). Kiesau, Hagan, Brown and Bandison had all had their names attached to Texas prospects prior to this year.

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Coach Bandison has surprised us a couple of times recently. First, with his acquisition of Kasa, and then by coaching some really solid D-line play out of a very young group last year.

Lets hope Mr. Humpherey is Coach Bandison's next surprise.

Go Buffs!

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

I just posted this on the main Football board, but I'm coming around on Bandison. Will Pericak was just named to Phil Steele's Freshman All American team. To take a lightly recruited linebacker and turn him into 1 of the top 12 freshman d-linemen in the country within a year takes some coaching. Will deserves his props and most of the credit, but Bandison's an ex-NFL player who obviously knows how to coach defensive linemen.

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Respect is due. His recruiting left us in a bad way entering this season, but by season's end, Pericek was a complete beast and a very mobile and strong DT. Bonsu, West and Kasa will all grow a lot with one year in the program. Cunningham is very versatile. We look to be pretty set for a long time.....

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

I will give props to Bandison. He has earned some praise. However, we need a couple solid DL recruiting years in a row for a change. Time to build some depth, especially since we most likely will not be counting on true freshmen to step in right away unless they're too good to keep off the field.

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Bring him in Bandison, this is the type of DL we need

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Man this kid has size already to play....can you imagine what a full yr at the college level what do, he could be CU Suh for the next 4 yrs.....hope the visit goes well

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Rated 4* and top 250 prospect by rivals.

Just to be clear, the 4* is the fan rating (Rivals has not yet given him stars) and he is listed as the #196 DT (not top 250 overall).

not saying he won't be, but he's just so new the scene that Rivals hasn't hand the chance to rate him.

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Honestly, this is a really hard recruitment to read. Humphrey has gotten well over 20 offers in the last 6-8 weeks. I doubt he ever thought he would have all these options at his disposal. All it takes is him clicking on one visit and that could hook him.

Actually, he is a part of the new top 250 they released today. He just does not have the stars added to his profile yet. He is the #196 prospect overall.

Just saw that. NOICE!!!

Something doesn't add up though. There are 6 visits listed on his profile - Ark., CU, TCU, Ok., TTU and Wake. I thought recruits were only allowed to take 5 visits?

Anywhoooo... Be a Buff young man!!!

Yeah, something does not make sense there. You are allowed only five official visits. Perhaps his trip to TCU was an unofficial one since it was just driving across the Metroplex?

could be. It is really nice to be back in on some top DTs

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Arky friends of mine say they think they are in the lead for him and that we are a long long shot.

Every fanbase says they are in the lead for every prospect. When they don't commit there then the player automatically turns to garbage/overrated. Unless it comes from his mouth we and until there is a commitment he's up for grabs.

Go get him Bandison

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

I think this guy is fixing to visit OU, game over if so, more than likely anyway imo.

My bad, overlooked that.

Everyone is usually an underdog when going up against Oklahoma. But the good thing here is that they're already at 25 commits, so there may not be room left in their class anyway.

Re: '10 TX DT Eric Humphrey

Thats true but they have pulled many a DT and Ends out of the Metroplex over the years. That visit makes me a tad uneasy.

Get the damn CU hostesses on him dammit.. I want a DT prospect like this. :smile2:

In all seriousness, we need to land someone like this.. And we need about 3 more of these guys in this recruiting class.

Rivals has now updated Humphrey's profile:

Rivals Rank: 4*; #17 DT
