Disclaimer: I have no reason to believe this kid is looking at Colorado or vice versa. Looks to me to be an SEC lock unless USC steals him away next year. He played: play defensive end, linebacker, running back, and tight end in 2009.

But Skidmark happened to post his video clip today (see vid below ... I'd never heard of him before) and then later, when I was browsing on a recruiting forum on Scout (not the buffs site, a main one) I found this post and photo:

... flew into Tampa early Wednesday ... here is the first prospect I visited: James Wilder, Jr. at Plant High School. He is a 6-2 1/2, 219 pound junior and is a LOCK for Scout100 in 2011.

When I asked Wilder about his offers, he said, "around 40".
When I asked Plant Head Coach Robert Weiner the same question, he said, "you can pretty much say everybody has."

So if it doesn't bother the rest of allbuffs, I thought I might follow this kid's recruitment. Looks to be an interesting one.

Man. He looks bigger and stronger than his dad was at that age.

The old man was one of the best backs Missouri ever had.

James Jr. gets a mention on his father's Wiki page:

"James Jr. is currently ranked as the #1 ranked Junior running back in the country and has offers from Alabama, Central Florida, South Carolina, and Notre Dame."

we went to the 5A state final w/Tampa Plant and James Wilder. He was a beast on offense and a terror at D-end. his teammate at Reciever is Tony Dungy's kid. 2x state champs...

Interesting. What must it be like to be Tony Dungy and sit in the stands and not second-guess your kid's coach? Or at least just keep your mouth shut :smile2: most of the time ... although if the team is returning state champs maybe Tony doesn't have many suggestions.

Sounds like Wilder is the real deal - will be fun to watch where he lands.
