Really hope this guy ends up in Boulder. He is raw, but give him a couple years in the program and watch out.

Bears offer Uko

With the recent news that defensive tackle Cassius Marsh (Westlake Village, Calif./ Oaks Christian) was backing off his commitment to Cal, the Bears didn't waste much time in offering another talented tackle from the Golden State.

Re: '10 CA DT George Uko

Fightin alot with Cal this season it seems

Re: '10 CA DT George Uko

Set up officials with Cal, Tenn, and Oregon. The other two will most likely go to OU and USC. But you never know with recruiting. Cabral is on him.

Re: '10 CA DT George Uko (Committed to USC)

Uko committed to USC on Christmas Day. Pretty much where everyone figured he would go.

Re: '10 CA DT George Uko (Committed to USC)

Are there any quality DT's left? Bandison has some work to do.

Broken record:
Lexington Smith, Denver East.
Poor kid still doesn't have game tape out & no offers. (same old story with East and no game highlights.)

But he's comparable in size to Uko, and was in the top two lineman at the Nike camp in Boulder. I asked around: grades aren't a problem according to my sources. Not sure why he is so under the radar, but he is.

He's leaning toward ASU, who is staying in contact.

Also said his stated size:
Ht: 6-foot-4
Wt: 285 lbs

is less now. He spent a lot of time in the weight room and is solid at about 10 lbs less. He did make honorable mention All-State team, despite missing 3 games due to hip injury. Great kid all around. Definitely owns a lunchpail.

Not really. We have offers out to 15 DTs and five remain uncommitted:

Ricky Heimuli-USC or Utah
Eric Humphrey-Visit status is still uncertain
Sealii Epenesa-Oregon State and UCLA lead
Foi Foi-Really like us, but grades are an issue
Bobbie Agoucha-A JUCO

Not a rosy situation.

I have my fingers crossed that they have something up their sleeve with this situation. Other words, maybe some dt we dont even know about?

Re: '10 CA DT George Uko (Committed to USC)

Something is up with Lexington Smith besides lack of tape.

Either he is not good enough even for a non-BCS offer (I doubt this), or he's not going to qualify (likely).

there is no chance it's almost January and he has no offers and no visits if he's a likely qualifier. Seen this one too many times. If it was close, he'd have offers.

... except the same thing happened with DeVaughn Thornton. His offers came in January, too (also no tape.)

I still have some contacts at East and I spoke with someone who knows Lex and says he has about a 2.5 GPA. The good news is, he's supposed to have some highlights out soon. It's incredible that East can't get that little detail together for their guys - really hurts their recruitment.

"About a 2.5" can mean any number of things though. That is the territory where every little point matters. Test scores may also not be there. Buffaholic is right :)smile:), it has to be more than just issues with tape not getting out.

FWIW, all of Thornton's offers except for CU came before January. He actually visited CSU in early December 2008 and had offers from a couple other non-BCS schools at the time as well.

I'm probably blinded by the fact that I really want things to go well for Lex, and I'm always ticked at the Denver East powers-that-be for letting down their players by not helping them get situated in my opinion.

They tell Lex will have a video up on youtube today.

edited to add:
just checked and the video is up.

Just search under Lexington Smith or check his profile here.
