Rob Loe is a 6'11" Center from New Zealand. 18-years old, born in England.

Scout

From a new Scout recruiting article: http://colorado.scout.com/2/926419.html

He proved he could play at a high level when he averaged 18.8 points, 7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest and made 18 of 29 3-point attempts (62.1 percent) in four games at the 2009 FIBA U-19 World Championships last summer.

========

He just visited St. Louis. He will be visiting Arizona and Pittsburgh. But...

Monday he is visiting Colorado!!!

If you can, try to get there for the Colorado Christian game and show him a great CU experience. He's absolutely perfect for Coach Bzdelik's system.

he should feel right at home with nate and shane showing him around...

...do aussies and kiwis get along?

Re: CU in the mix for Kiwi Center

love the down under recruiting

Re: CU in the mix for Kiwi Center

Rob Loe? Can we get C. Thomas Howell to walk on? I think he's already attending on a minority scholarship.

This would be a big get to go along with Shannon Sharpe, Whitney Houston and Britney Spears.....

don't quote me, but I was under the impression that there was some animosity between New Zealand and Australia. I might be entirely wrong though. I don't think it's political or racial, but more of just a geographic rivalry...? Either way though, I do think Tomlinson and Tunks-Harris will help with recruiting.

Re: CU in the mix for Kiwi Center

My understanding is that the Aussies are to the Kiwis as the Americans are to the Canadians.

Similarly, while I may give Canadians crap from time to time and our countries may have their differences... I'd feel much more at home if I was going to go work a new overseas job and there were a couple Canadians in that office.

I think both countries speak the same language, so he will be able to ask them questions without the need of a translator. That could be huge in recruiting him here!

In an effort to make him feel we're cool with his kind, I'll wear my AC/DC shirt, and Scotch can wear his Air Supply shirt

Damn Dude, I said that was between me and you.

Encouraging article in the Tucson Citizen about Loe's recruitment:

Wildcats face uphill battle to land New Zealand center

It appears the UA’s most difficult challenge in landing New Zealand center Rob Loe is Colorado and its world-traveling coach Jeff Bzdelik...

Colorado’s roster also has two players from Australia, a neighboring country of New Zealand, in sophomore point guard Nate Tomlinson and freshman center Shane Harris-Tunks. Bzdelik has reportedly recruited Loe, a 6-11 post player who was part of New Zealand’s 2009 FIBA U19 World Championships team, for the last two to three years....

Bzdelik, who once coached the Denver Nuggets in the NBA and was a longtime assistant under Pat Riley at Miami, has traveled the world to partake in USO (United Service Organization) events....

Loe, 18, an honor student who was born in England, is also attempting to gain eligibility next school year through the NCAA clearinghouse. Foreign students are closely screened to insure proper courses cross over to the appropriate core curriculum offered in the U.S.

We're actually pulling a kid away from UofA? Honestly? That's fantastic. I'd hate to be the guy responsible for the expense account that pays for Bzdeliks travel, but it seems to be paying off.

We pulled Hornbuckle away from UofA for last year's class.

Awesome prospect!!

Apparently Bz has been on his trail for nearly 2 years now, while Arizona has kind of just gotten the ball rolling, in November. However, the one thing I'm uneasy about (this pisses me off) is that his brother attends Arizona. Not sure, but AZ is the more recognized program, and with family here, especially being so far from home, that could prove to be the deciding factor. I hope not.

junc... i will rain an ungodly amount of fire if thats a link about the hooker chaser

Scout does not show a scholarship offer...but neither does it show AZ in the picture. Apparently he's already unofficially visited GaTech, Pitt and AZ. I just really want either him or Ndiaye. I don't care - prefer both, but WE NEED A BIG.
