Punahou is a private HS and is the best academic school in the islands. If he's been doing well there, he should have no issue getting into CU.

He played Center in high school because the school needed a big body. CU is bringing him in to play Fullback and contribute on special teams. He is from the same high school as Kaiwi Crabb who is one of his best friends. Sione Tau and Liloa Nobriga also attended Punahou.

Rivals had a nice article: http://colorado.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1052806

Romero, a 5-foot-11, 230-pounder from Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou, fell in love with the Buffs while in Boulder for a multi-day contact camp last summer.

Romero worked as a fullback while at the Buffs' camp.

"I actually felt very comfortable at fullback," he said. "The first day it felt weird running with the ball but I got used to it. Blocking out of the backfield felt real natural for me."

Romero will not be joining the Buffs this fall. Due to financial issues, he decided to accept a JUCO opportunity.
