It is Official Kathy McConnell-Miller is done

how nice would it be to be break even revenue wise in WBB, and positive in men's?

That's the goal. WBB and WVB can break even if managed properly. MBB can make $5 million or so in profits, even with the size arena CU has.

If you accomplish that, you take enormous pressure off of the AD and start running a surplus that builds facilities and increases coach salaries so CU is competitive with the big boys. It probably also leads to some sports being added back in. This is a very big deal.

The new facility will not only help recruit players, hopefully it'll help recruit a coach. I think CU has a lot more to offer than it did when Ceal retired. Remember that hiring fiasco? They had announced the presser for the new guy, can't remember his name, and then he got cold feet and backed out. I really thougt Miller was going to be a good hire.

With the high school talent Colorado has, we should be a top program.

I have to say this surprises me - in a good way. It says the AD is willing to be patient, but you better have your sh!t together by year five or you're gone.

Oh yeah, this is Hawks fifth year. What a coincidence!

Correct. And it's about ****ing time these sports pulled their weight.

I'm not too big on women's hoops, but it should be a no brainer up in Boulder. There is some tradition there from the Ceal years, and you have a good recruiting base along the Front Range.

There's enough talent in Colorado to field a respectable Women's college basketball team.

Volleyball, too. Just need to supplement both with California and maybe some international and you've got yourself tournament teams.

Bohn announced his Search Committee Tuesday evening. Nothing surprising - chaired by Ceal Barry, would have liked to have seen an old player or two on there.

more internet rumor stuff - someone I know that knows someone that knows people in the program...

they are looking into a male coach that apparently doesn't have too much coaching experience, but more administrative experience. I'm not sure how much clout this has, as it makes no sense. However, Ceal's comments could be tacitly directed towards people on the search committee who were thinking about hiring this male coach. She wants a coach, not an administrator or assistant. I'm glad Ceal's heading this up.

Also, transfers are unexpected, unless the new coach clears house like Bz. Some players did not seem to like KMac.

The only coach the Camera article mentioned by name was Burns. I think she has to be the leader right now. If she wants the job, I think she'll get it.

BTW - I believe Bohn hired Burns. If that's the case, there's an example of a good hire he made.

Bohn did hire Burns for her current stint at SDSU. Given that and Ceal leading the search committee, I would think one of her ex-assistants who just had a deep tourney run would be at the top of the list. I can't imagine anyone thinking that Burns would be a bad hire. People may have another candidate they prefer, but that doesn't mean they're negative on Burns.

I will welcome any coach in any sport who has previously beaten Texas with open arms.
