Mike Bohn interview on 104.3 The Fan

Bohn comes off pretty classy in that interview. I know I am not that nice when I've been dumped

Edit:

Also, I like how he talked about having done some preliminary work and having a "plan" for this.

Bohn got screwed by Jeff but, I hope the next Mens BB coach actually requires a SEARCH and it doesn't have to be a former player...

Sadly, I am not sure if you are joking or not.

It was kind of a joke, but seriously, in 4-5 years if we are looking for another coach, can he be any worse than what we have seen since he was playing? You know he would bring some heart to that team and most likely be able to recruit at least as good as what we have had.

Did he go back and get his degree? Otherwise, I don't think that CU could hire him.

Yeah you can't bring in Billups as a coach.

WE shall see how Bohn handles the coaching search.

I think Bennett from St. Mary's is by far the best candidate.

Why is it that the transition from NBA player to NBA coach seems to be a more manageable transition than NBA player to college coach?

Because being an NBA coach is mostly about managing the egos. You hire Xs and Os guys for your staff to run your offense and your defense, and you have a GM who picks the players. In college, it's about establishing a culture and a system. So you have to have an offensive and defensive system, and you have to be an eager recruiter who can evaluate talent and find the guys that fit your system. Totally different jobs.

That's fair.

I will say this about Chauncey, when you look at the attributes of players who have made the transition to coach, at least in the NBA, Chauncey seems to have all of them.

I completely agree. I've thought for the past 7 or 8 years that Chauncey would be a great coach. Heck, I thought he should have been elevated to Player-Coach in Karl's absence this year.
