Now that Utah is in, has there been offical word that CU will start in 2011?

I hope so...the thought of CU staying two more years in the Big Tex conference for two more years doesn't excite me. Another issue would be that the Big 12 office could force CU to play all the South schools in 2011 as a going away gift.

As funny and sad as that is I didn't think that conference schedules could be changed. They seem to be be pretty set in stone. For some reason I am still laughing at us playing the Big 12S as a parting gift. I'm not sure if its out of hilarity or if I'm nervous about it.

Since UNL is bailing after this season, the Mack X is already changing 2011 schedules. And it would probably be easier if they didn't have to do it with 11 teams. There was a story in another thread where Beebe said CU had expressed an interest in leaving after 2010 (for one thing, it's better financially) and that it was under consideration. The 12-Pac would apparently rather wait until 2012 just because of the timing of the TV deals, but have said they can accomodate CU and UU if we really want to move early...

CU should just go independant for '11.

keep the OCC sched of hawaii, cal, csewe and fresno st.

add in eastern washington, kent state, akron, ohio, buffalo, woffard, ball state and unc. if hawk is still around, maybe he could have a winning season.

Are you crazy?? That's like 5 MAC schools. You think he'd have a winning record against them???? :wow:

I think Bohn will get it done, it's in everyone's best interest unless Texas is adamant about our "penalty."

1 more year in Big 12 = great final farewell tour
2 more years in Big 12 = excruciating wait to turn the page

It just hit me why Dan does not appear to be real pumped about going to the Pac: He probably thought we would sneak up on some conference teams but now they will be gunning for us. CU will be a red letter game for all of our jilted lovers.

didn't Bohn say his next job was getting to the pac by '11.....I hope so

My excitement for the Big 12 is gone and this is coming from someone who grew up an OU fan before moving to Colorado at age 8. Looking at the whole thing, I'm glad I didn't continue to root for OU because I know for sure my Grandpa and his brother are rolling over in their graves over the fact that OU needs Texas more than Texas needs OU despite OU having 7 National Championships to UT's 5. What a shame.

I hope we don't wait long before we find out when the Buffs leave for the Pac-10.

Utah will officially start in 2011, so I have to think we will as well....

Today's article in the DP said that CU could make the jump next year.

One thought crossed my mind: Since NU decided to make the jump in 2011, could the Big 12 just go after NU for losing the Big 12 Championship game because CU and the Pac said that they'd start in 2012? Maybe CU takes the Big 12's side in court against NU.

The Big 12 is supposed to distribute the money soon and that time, we'll know of CU is in the red for this year ending on July 1st or not. I believe Bohn wants to give CU fans the answer to that but both conferences and CU are still working things out.

When we move isn't up to UT, it's up to us to give notice and just do it.
The only way we're moving in 2011 is if the Big 12 asks/forces us to leave (earlier than we gave notice), so in that sense it is up to Texas

We will move in 2011. I just makes too much sense not to. They even did the math that moving in 1 year is cheaper penalty wise. Assuming $9 million a year in tv revenue at 50% loss over two years is a loss of $9 million. An 80% loss of $9 million over 1 year is just $7.2 million. We save almost 2 million by jumping in 1 year, assuming we can get about 9 million in 2011 in the Pac 10 which isn't unreasonable.

What happens if Nebraska leaves in 2011 and we stick around for 2012? Is the North just a 5 team division?

Seems to me that this is a giant game of legal chicken right now. CU wants to be in the Pac 12 for 2011. The Big 12 wants us gone after this season. Neither side wants to be the first to go on record with that because it has a profound effect on the exit penalties. I'm sure that in the end there will be a negotiated settlement and CU will be in the Pac 12 for the 2011 season.
