Anybody else notice that our future schedules work out almost too conveniently?

I looked at our schedules on cubuffs.com and every year from 2010 to 2015 has a Pac 10 opponent listed for non conf. Basically with a move to 9 conference games we will not have to make even 1 change to our non conference sked with the conference move. Conspiracy? Or dumb luck?

I think this has been in the works for several years, frankly. They've been checking us out, and we've been doing the same with them.

Interesting, but there is no way we've been planning this for a decade. I mean, schedules are made wayyy to far in advance for this to be true. Way to uncertain. Basically, it was just smart scheduling. We recruit a lot on the west coast, so ya, we should play there as much as possible. The side effect of nice easy changes in OOC scheduling is nice tho :smile2:

Who are we gonna schedule OOC the next few years? Big 12 teams?

While I love the notion of playing some power teams like LSU and such a decade ago, I think we need to focus on cupcakes with a 9 game conference schedule...at least till we are back around top 25 again. USAFA would be cool though!

we've got home-homes with Fresno and Minnesota in '12 and '13 and a couple with Hawaii....and with CSU in the mix there shouldn't be TOO much difficulty in the transition. there is a set with UW currently scheduled in '14 that will need to be fixed. i'd say leave off the Big XIIer's for a while, play some Big 10 teams but not travel to the MAC.

edit: playing a big east team in the NYC/NJ area makes some sense since i think the Buff alums would make a decent show of it, get them re-energized, unless we still suck.

We do have some openings now, but there's definitely been a push to play more in front of CUs alumni on the west coast. I remember there were even talks of San Jose State as a potential non-conference opponent for that reason (and getting a 2-for-1 at Folsom).

I'd like to see more strategic non-conference scheduling. Basically, I want wins, I want 2-for-1s, and I want some exposure in areas we recruit. That means my list of non-conference opponents is led by:

Hawaii
San Jose State
Rice
Tulane

San Diego State? Although SJS and SDS would both cover areas we'll get exposure in the 12-Pac anyway...

Kind of sad when I'm reluctant to put Houston and SMU on the list because we want games we'd feel secure in winning.... :sad1:

I'm sorry, we need to take the K-State approach until the program is healthy again.

I'm talking Sun Belt and bottom-feeding Big East, CUSA and WAC programs. Only BCS teams should be in name only (Indiana).

I respectfully submit a request for a series with USAFA and LSU.

I thought we were supposed to be working on something with LSU or had something scheduled a ways out, maybe it got canceled. As to the coincidence of already having 1 PAC game scheduled most years...I think it has more to do with the fact we were deliberately scheduling at least one West Coast game a year for recruiting and alumni presence purposes rather then some sort of long term conspiracy. I also agree we should schedule an AFA series. Wish we could alternate between them and CSU. I grew up going to AFA games in the Springs. They actually get way better attendance than CSU does.

I wouldn't be surprised to see those Pac 10 games we already have scheduled be rescheduled.

We need one non-con marquee, CSU, and a cupcake.....

I go back and forth with that. But then I see internet chatter about KSU being on their way "back" for going 6-6. People tend to ignore that their non-conference schedule included two 1AA teams (and a Sun Belt team which they actually lost to).

There's a lot to be said for being no worse than 2-1 going into conference play every year and for that only to happen if CSU upsets us.

When I want to boost my confidence I challenge short guys to some 1-on-1 basketball. If they beat me then I move on to short and fat guys. If they beat me then I move on to guys with one arm. Beating them does nothing for me.

Would we schedule a high school team if it was allowed? No one wants to see that ****. Play at least mid-tier teams. If you win, good. If you lose, then you clearly need to get better, not schedule worse teams

Hey I'm listening and I love it!! Except you need to take out UVA and Maryland and put Wake and VT in there. :smile2:

va tech? can you imagine some of the heads exploding around here if CU schedules someone that good?

We had the hardest schedule in the nation in our N.C. year. I see no problem with scheduling good teams. If they stomp us, we know we have a lot of work to do to get to where we want to be.

I like most here aren't advocating going the KjSU route permanently, but with an added BCS conference opponent each year thanks to a 9 game conference schedule and a mid major team whose universe revolves around beating Colorado, I think CU can do with a few cupcakes to help iron out the wrinkles in building the offense and defense annually. Get back to top 25 type players and teams and then get back to top 25 scheduling.

I guess I understand that, but I like going into a season knowing that if we win our first 4 games then we will be in the top 25. Doesn't happen without beating some kingpins.

Even with their 6-6 record, Ksu did not qualify for a bowl game last season because of the 1AA teams they scheduled. There is no logic in setting up a schedule like that.
