Good job Dan!

Jim Rome has his radio show in Denver today and the theme seems to be all Denver topics and no mention of CU or the football team at all. Can't help but think if Dan at least had us at .500 and going to a toilet bowl last year that we would get some national press.

I am not really that big of a Jim Rome fan, but I know he has a pretty large following... Would have been great to get some pub! I bet a firey guy like EB would have had some time on the show!

So now Hawkins is to blame for CU not being mentioned on the Jim Rome Show? Doesn't that show go for another 2 1/2 hours?

Jim Rome is the worst sports guy in the world. He doesn't even know anything about sports. He's just a talking guy. Total douche. I'm glad he's not talking about CU. What's he going to say?

Ummmm.

Got Dan Hawkins here with us...

Long pause...

So Dan...

Long pause...

OK, I'm out.

I'll bet winning would get us mentioned more. Not having a "fiery" coach. Just hire me a coach that can win some mother****ing games. I really don't give a **** where he went to school. Let's not limit ourselves in the most crucial decision in the history of this program for the sake of nostalgia...

Hate to say it, but not mentioning our football team is probably a good thing at this point. The Pac 10 move is big news and great for the program long-term, but we need some on-field success before media types will care again.

Not being mentioned is better right now than reminding the listening audience of Hawk's record at CU.

Somehow hadn't even thought of the 12-Pac angle to the story. Would be cool if he got Bohn on there to talk about the move and maybe even all the politicking that led up to it...

I feel much better with Bohn behind a microphone than I would with Hawkins. Hawkins would get up there and say something like cracking the pavement or preventing gashers or getting our horns out.

I figure if we're not mentioned on that ****tard's show, it's a good thing. Rome is a ****ing tool. Not surprising that timmy likes listening to that ****.

Umm, be glad he's not talking CU, Rome has a history of bad mouthing the buffs and Hawk recently, and for good reason. He couldn't let it go the first show after we lost to Montana state, he ripped us HARD! And after Hawk's, "It's Division 1 football, it's the big 12!", he kept playing that sound bite from Hawk over and over and over, mocking Hawk.

"What about Colorado? Jerking around with Wyoming." I remember that quote from the Ben Kelley return game against them. Im not surprised about not being mentioned when we get beat by teams like Toledo.

Jim Rome is a miracle worker, absolutely, undeniably and unequivocally a miracle worker. I use to be addicted to sports talk radio - I listened to it every chance I got, in the car, in the office, at home - man I just could not get enough. Then The Fan added Jim Rome - after listening to him for a couple weeks I was totally cured. I did not want to be associated with any activity that his listeners were involved with on any level. If that is what people who listened to sports talk devolved into I needed stop before it was too late. Jim Rome did that for me. I have now rediscovered music - Nora Jones, Nina Simone, etc. Have not listened to much sports radio in the last several years - once in awhile I switch to Alfred but not too much.

Jim Rome is annoying and I would much rather have a local show in the mornings especially during the Mike and Mike crap. Rome sucks but has a following. And yes, if Hawkins could win some games and wasn't such a disaster having him on a national radio talk show would have been great. The key though is having something to talk about which Dan has nothing at the moment. Agreed as said above that Bohn would have been a good guest to trump the PAC stuff and **** you 96 Buff.

:yeahthat:

The unfortunate few times I have been subjected to listening to Rome and his show it has made me think of that group of awkward geeks in jr. high school who spent their time trying to impress each other with their infantile humor. Nobody else thought it was funny but they were convinced it was pure genius.

Rome is the same way, his callers are all trying to outdo each other in sophmoric humor not realizing that the joke is actually on them.

I have heard from a number of different people who have at various times worked around Rome that he is a really arrogant a****** off the air as well. Doesn't surprise me.

Not getting mentioned on his show doesn't bother me and may actually be a good thing since he feeds on the negative.

Much better use of my time listening to some good music and enjoying the scenery as I drive.

Im not saying Jim is an icon or anything but he's right. You either get his show or you dont and u like him or dont, no real in between. I cant watch Mike and Mike, can deal with the Domer, the other pussy, umm no.

Mike and Mike is boring as hell because all they talk about are the mainstream topics and they beat them to death - Roethlisberger's off-field problems, the Tiger woods drama, where will Lebron sign, and who knows what they're talking about these days because I don't listen to them anymore. And to make it worse, they pretty much ignore college sports.

I really enjoy Vic and Gary on 1600. They are pretty entertaining as far as I'm concerned. Les and Jim on 1560, not so much.

I listen to Bill King on Rivals Radio in the morning. It's all college football and basketball, all the time. Lots of information on recruiting; lots of discussion about the prospects of various teams. (Of late, Bill has been advocating Mike Leach as the replacement for Hawk.) Unfortunately, the show gets a lot more calls about SEC and Big 10 teams than the Big 12 or the Pac 10.

It sometimes gets tedious listening to calls from Florida, Ohio State and LSU fans. But, there's no BS on that show and King knows his college football. If you haven't listened to the show, I recommend you give it a try. It's on XM and Sirrius from 7:00am to 11:00am EDT.

Sounds like a good show. So it's only available if you sign up for XM or Sirius radio?

Carolina,
As far as I know, it's only available if you subscribe to XM or Sirius. There's an internet feed, but I'm pretty sure you need a subscription to access it.

It's really the only reason I keep my XM subscription. During the season, it's awesome. Coming up to the recruiting signing date -- early February -- it's really good, too (though not too much about CU recruiting these days). This time of year is usually less interesting, but this year has been great with the conference expansion issues being red hot. (King thought CU to the Pac 10 was a good move. He's a realist when it comes to Texas, but doesn't think they get many style points.)

Check it out at rivalsradio.com

do you know what channel number on XM?

Jim Rome's show is a complete waste of time. Informative? Nope! Interesting? Nope! Funny? Hell no! I don't know how anyone can stand to listen to that show for more than a few minutes. My radio happened to be tuned to 104.3 when I got in my truck at lunch today. Josh McDaniels was on so I left it on until that interview was finished. McD is a Rome fan and regular listener! I think "Super Bowl winning coach" and "Jim Rome fan" are mutually exclusive. I can't wait until Hawkins and McDipsh*t are gone!

If CU wanted to be mentioned, someone should have had Plati set it up. They don't just babble about anything local because they are in town, Rome likes coaches and athletes to call him. And pros are his thing, not college guys unless they've done something special. At the moment, we don't have anyone with national "star quality" that I can think of, so I think NOT being on the show was better than being turned down for asking.

"Hey clones, throw me some vines" Who gives a **** about Rome? However I do think Frank Caliendo does a great impression

Can't blame Rome, CU is irrelevant in the world of college football.

The world would be a better place if everybody he interviewed beat the sh*t out of him, just like Jim Everett did.

"OK, I've got Martin Gramatica here" (BOOM - down goes Rome)

"OK, I'm back with Spud Webb" (SMACK)

"Welcome to the jungle, I've got Martina Navratalova in studio" (she drops him like third period french)

Like Bill Byrne said, some guys just need to get their ass kicked. Jim Rome is one of those guys.

I think all you guys missed my point and somehow thought that I am some sort of regular caller to his show or something.

My point was that Dan hasn't done jack that could ever get him on a national show much less local radio. I can give a **** about Jim Rome, I want a coach in here that Jim Rome and other national media types would want to talk to especially when a national audience comes to town and talks to most of the other big name coaches here.
