Arrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!

Kool-Aid.jpg

This is the year we're going to pull it off! Hansen has a good handle on the offense, and the Oline has had more than enough time to gel. I'm starting to get excited this year. Maybe last years asswhuppins we received will be the major motivation for this years squad.

GO BUFFS!

QB- This is Hansen's year to finally prove himself. I'm sure Kiesau has worked all year long on his arm. He needs to make better decisions on the fly. Hopefully his experience will be the difference.

RB- We all know what Rodney is capable of. Hopefully we can give him some time to find some holes in the line. It's pretty exciting to think of all the things this kid could accomplish with a decent OL.
I'm not sure who'll step up behind him. Hawk has placed a ton of praise on BLock, hopefully he will stay healthy and give Speedy a rest from time to time.

TE's- I really feel Deehan will be playing on Sunday's. He's taken his lumps and should be ready to produce. He's the man this year. So hopefully he can handle it. I know we'll definitely miss Riar.
Everyone seems to be high on Thorton. He's definitely athletic enough, I just have my doubts.

WR's - Clemons seems to be the real deal. I guess we'll find out. I'm just glad McKnight had one year of eligibility remaining. We'd be screwed if he wasn't here imo. Someone has to step up. My pick is Darden.

OL- Step the **** up. Period. I'm really sick of hearing all the excuses. There's so much talent on paper, they just don't seem to get it. I hope Richter can step up and fill a huge hole in our interior, but thats asking a lot. MTM seems to be healthy heading into camp, but I really don't want to get my hopes up. He's lucky to still be playing ball. I thought he'd be done after tearing up his other knee. Bryce Givens is a bit of a unknown imo.
Overall there are too many holes. It's hard to say if they will put all the pieces together this year. Hopefully Coach Johnson will prove everyone wrong.

Now the defense.....that's a different story. :smile2:

OMG!!! We're gonna be ****ing awesome. Actually, sometimes I believe that, but am able to surpress it most of the time. I won't be fooled again.

CSU - W Payback time MF'ers
Cal - L Just too tough for us.
Hawaii - W Greg McMackin is no June Jones
Georgia - W Upset baby.
Mizzou - L Not too confident on this road game
Baylor - W If Hawk cant motivate our boys for this game he should be fired on the spot.
TTU- W I think we can knock them off.
OU - L OU on the road? L
KU - W Thank god I don't have to watch Reesing kill our D anymore.
ISU - W W
KSU - W Tough call. I think we'll pull this one out if we can stop their RB.
kNU - L As much as I'd love to put a W there, I think the fuskers will be too much for us this year.

8-4
Beating the Bulldogs will hopefully instill the confidence we need to actually win some games.

***Quietly awaiting JimmyBuff's opinion****

:)

We'll see. :smile2:

Cal isn't highly thought of by the pundits going into this year. Georgia isn't what Georgia used to be. Coach Hawkins wants to prove that he deserves to be here for awhile, go win that game. Go win a big home game against a SEC name opponent. Other than OU and Nebraska, I don't see another Top 10 opponent on the schedule so I'm kind of confused about how "tough" our schedule really is. Bunch of average programs we are facing. Hey Hawk let's throw up a winning record in conference this year in a very down Big 12 conference (in my opinion). I'm done with the predicting stuff a win here, loss there, etc. Show me what you got Hawkins. cinch it up, fix the little things, clean it up, add in any bull**** slogan you want but I'll be paying attention to the scoreboard.

Hawkins in his 5th year should put together a quality Top 25 team. That's the standard I'm setting for this year. We'll see what happens. Dont' care to read about the injuries, transfers, how young we are, whatever excuse people might have. 5th year Hawk. You haven't done **** so far to earn your paycheck so its time to put up or get the **** out.

Basically it comes down to two scenarios. Either Hawk delivers a Top 25 team and stays for another year or he gets the **** out and we get a new coach. There's no in-between bull**** anymore for Hawk.

For the first time in a year, I agree with JimmyBuff. Every other post made it seem as though it's impossible. Maybe improbable, but certainly possible we go 8-4.

7-8 wins and top 25 is a pretty good expectation in my book.

I really think that if we can get some solid interior line play we should be pretty good to go. Depth worries me a little, but it's college football right? Not everyone on the team can have a wealth of experience. Hansen, Speedy, Deehan, Clemens, McKnight, and whoever steps up as the third WR should be a pretty good group of playmakers, it all depends on the OL. Prove me wrong Hawk!

The schedule with csu/ hawaii , baylor/tech and then the 3 in a row vs KU,ISU and KSU "should" be 7 wins. We'll see. The defense has got to be nasty in the front 7. Pressure and stuff the run. I don't want to see that toledo game defense ever again. OL, time to live up to the hype.

There should be no excuse not to win 7 games IMO. Now will they? Remains to be seen. I am cautiously optimistic. We need to go 3-1 in OOC to get soem momentum going into Big 12 play. Wins over CSU, Hawaii and either Georgia or Cal. I do like our chances against Georgia. It's a long trip for them and we will be pumped for that one. It will be a special day remembering one of the greatest moments in CU history.

And about csu, if the rams dominate the line of scrimmage like they did last year, we are seriously ****ED! CSU will have a new starter at each OL position. We need to push that young line around.

It's nice to see some optimism around here....

7 or 8 wins should be possible, but not if the special teams don't improve. The kicking and punting have killed the Buffs the last couple of seasons and those areas really need to be at least average for the Buffs to achieve anything this year.

The rammie game is the biggest game Hawkins has every had. Period. This team needs to get off to a fast start. They lose to the rammies again, and the air will totally come out of this program.

i think we can be bowl eligible. if we can't win at least 4 (or maybe 5) at home/Invesco with this schedule of all winnable games, we stink. i can't go any higher than 7 but would gladly eat my words.

i put the o/u at about 5.5.

We are fans, it is our nature to be optimistic. We are also serious fans and look at the potential of the players we have on the team and can't help but to get excited, this is why we are fans.

Unfortunately we saw an awful lot of the same stuff the past two off-seasons and Hawk and Co. managed to beat the enthusiasm out of us by Oct. I hope I am wrong and the team gets it together but I am not getting my hopes up as long as Hawk is in charge.

I'm going into this season with no expectations either way. We could be damn good. We could be awful again. We could be consistently mediocre. We could be mediocre on average with highs and lows (e.g., losing to Hawaii and then beating Georgia). I'm just ready to start enjoying some college football again and look forward to the ride.

That is the same stuff I have been thinking for awhile. More golden kool-aid please.

I think we're being attacked by another Utard... Notice the red koolaid he's sipping.... :wink2:

Actually if our team is decent, we should be able to pull off a winning record this year (or the dreaded 6-6). The Big 12 is having a down year, and we have just about the easiest schedlue we could possibly get in conference. (We dont have Texas, or Texas A&M who will both be stacked this year. Even OU is down, their QB Landry Jones did not play well in any close games last year). I hope we go 8-4 or better, but I'm not gonna get my hopes too high until we score that first touchdown on the opening drive against the Lammies.

If we play solid at all, pulling off one upset and giving away one dumbass loss, we should hit at least 6-6.

Hope for the best. Expect the worst.

On paper we should finally field a good team under Hawk. I truly believe there is a significant amount of talent at virtually all positions (kicking remains to be seen; and depth may be an issue). I am very optimistic that we are going to field a better than good team (probably not great, but good-to-great).

My optimism hinges on two very iffy things:

1. Coaching: Will the coaches finally get it? Will they put these kids in position to make plays? Will they motivate these kids to play and show some passion and emotion?
2. QB: We absolutely need Tyler to start. Furthermore, all offensive packages need to be designed around his strengths. Don't make him throw the 2-3 yard passes constantly like Cody. Let him air it out a bit, run the ball some, use his creativity and athleticism (throw the option in every now and again; vary it up!). If Cody starts, then my optimism will all but be gone.

I agree with some other posters as well, the CSU game is critical. Lose that one and I just don't feel this one is gonna pop.

In summary, for all my Hawk bashing you all have read here I truly believe we are going to be pretty darn good this year and I am very excited for the season to begin.

P.S. I really want to beat Mizzery. I am sick of losing, and losing bad, to that mediocre at every sport school. I would love to ride off into the sunset with a road win against those falsely arrogant Mizzery pukes. And as always, throw Nebraska in there as well. We could leave a very bad taste in their mouth with a win since they wouldn't have a shot at redemption for presumably quite some time.

Funny, I woke up this morning with this strange sense of optimism as well. Can't explain it, maybe it's that I'm just ready for football - can't start soon enough.

as far as coaching, and two nearly "must win" games at home....not sure i ever like DH and the Funky Bunch against Darth Snyder and it's pretty easy for me to imagine a Tuberville coached, rejuvenated stick-to-your-assignments Tech D give our "hybrid" O a sub 300 yard total O day. we don't do so well when we have to convert 3rd downs more than a couple time in a row....we usually find a way to give ourselves impossible down-distance with a sack, penalty, or whatever.

i think we hammer**** Baylor. just because the universe has poetic logic, sometimes.
