but, we've been doing that for 20+ years.
with the Indiana/Northern Iowa winner in play, the post Oregon State stretch isn't bad...and makes sense to ramp up a bit heading into conference play without beating us up too much.
do we get a return trip from UGA? I forget.

What makes you assume we'll get beaten up in the conference? We went 6-10 last year, when the big 12 was as strong as its ever been, and we only lose Thorne, while adding two bigs.
What I like:
1. Las Vegas Classic
2. Opening and closing Big 12 play at home
3. Good travel destinations (Georgia, San Fran, Harvard, Las Vegas). Chance that the UGA game is part of Midnight Madness.
4. Great in-conference home slate (drew UT, TAMU and OSU from the South... last year was Oklahoma, Baylor and Tech). Hopefully we win all 3 again.
5. No D2 opponents. That killed our RPI and Sagarin last year when we played two of them.
What I don't like:
1. Lack of compelling home games in the non-conference. Oregon State & CSU are nice, but the rest... meh. Idaho State went 7-22 last year, Alcorn State 2-29, Texas-Pan American 6-27, Citadel 16-16, Longwood 12-19, and Maryland-Eastern Shore 11-21. Not much there for fan interest or RPI building. Big 12 games + CSU will have to sell the season tickets.
2. Lack of a marquee non-conference opponent. I like the idea of scheduling one of the big boys, even if we have to go on the road to do it. Playing a Michigan State or Duke in the non-conference would be a great opportunity for this team and the fans.
Looking at this schedule, the Buffs need to be no worse than 12-2 when conference play starts. That way a .500 Big 12 season plus a conference tourney win will likely put us on the right side of the bubble at 21-10.

They'll come here for the 2011-12 season.
Might want to lock in a good season ticket seat location this year. Next year, we should be coming off a post-season appearance, entering the Pac-12, and have a non-conference home slate that includes Georgia and an additional front range school or two (Tad wants to play AFA, Den, UNC, & Wyo regularly).

San Francisco, Harvard, and Cal State Bakersfield on the road? Why are we scheduling home and homes with teams from relatively weak conferences?? I do like the Georgia trip and I'm excited about the Las Vegas tournament though...
This is about what I expected. Disappointed CSU is the only local school on the sched. Oh well. There are some good teams in the non-conference that will help prepare for the Big 12(Georgia, New Mexico, possibly Indiana). Agree with 'Nik that we should be at worst 12-2 going into the Big 12.

meh. I am excited for the team. Just need to find some people to go with. I have no friends. Well, no friends that willingly subject themselves to CU basketball with regularity. We need a winning season goddamit.

Dark Horse would be a decent spot to grab a burger and some beers. It's one of the few that's walkable too.

Oklahoma State made it into the tourney at 22-10 (9-7 + 1-1 in B12T) last year. Their 12-2 non-conference schedule featured losses on the road at Tulsa and at home versus Rhode Island. Signature wins: at home against a bad Utah team and on the road at a bad Stanford team. In the conference, they had home wins over tourney teams Texas A&M, Baylor and Kansas + an impressive road victory at Kansas State.
That earned OSU a #7 seed.
I tend to eat at the Buff Club downstairs in the stadium before the game, pretty reasonable meals that are really good, and Beer
Hopefully we are as good as we think we can be this year. Then maybe they will schedule some programs with a little more appeal next year and beyond. To fill up Coors we need to be playing good basketball, but we also need to be playing someone decent.

But the key is that OSU didn't have any bad losses in their non-conference slate, something that CU will need to avoid or at least minimize to have a decent tourney shot. Plus OSU beat the right teams in conference, something which is important with the unbalanced conference schedules in a 12-team league. Kind of like the year we went 10-6 in conference but didn't get a bid, if I recall correctly none or very few of those 10 wins were high quality wins. :huh:

Probably close. I've got to go to 3 seats, though, so I don't know if that means I'm moving a bit. Definitely same section, but I'd like to get on the aisle (easier with the toddler). You know CU makes you buy a full seat for a baby?
