So how does CU come out Saturday?

Do they come out being aggresive, testing the inexperienced line and QB of CSU, while goign aggresive on offense as well. Or do they sit back and see what csu is gonna do?

Personally I would get after Petey early, give him a long welcome into college football. On offense I think they should try some early home runs to show that csu will have to respect the long ball and not play 8 men up.

thoughts? I'm hoping for a big INT on defense and a long bomb for a TD early on.

they better send the house on D. i expect that they will be very aggressive. that would be my approach anyway.

If I were Ron Collins, I'd send Sipili or Beaty on a blitz and just blow up their freshman QB. Don't worry about the penalty. Just effing drill the guy - HARD. Make it hurt. Don't let him get into any kind of comfort zone. Make him think that around every corner is a blitzing linebacker just looking to decapitate him and get on SportsCenter. Do this in the first series, and the rest of the game will be much easier to deal with.

I hope they come out pumped and confident, score first, get momentum, and hold it all four quarters. But with Hackins at the helm who knows. I really dont know what to expect. I just cant seem to feel confident about the team. I hope they grill the goats and make lamb chops out of those ph uckers but there are too many unknowns and the history is not on our side with this staff.

Hawk's future hangs in the balance. I hope they are up 28-0 at half....

If they come out pumped and confident, Hawk has a chance.,,,,,,

As a fan I hope they come out pumped up and play a sound game offensively, and defensively. It would be great to see the Buffs control the pace of the game from beginning to end. It would be nice to see some backups see a lot of PT right away.

As someone who has watched the last four season's of Hawk Love, I believe this will be a close game, with a ton of suspect playcalling on both sides of the ball. I think we will win this game, but it won't be as easy a win as we all want it to be.

no clue. falling behind early, or a turnover that leads to a CSU score...and I wonder how we respond. i like what the players are saying, but there's no way this team and program don't have a fragile psychology. if they get punched in the mouth early (last year), then what?

I would come out doing the little things. I would cinch it up a bit on the OLine and cinch it down on the D Line. I would bring Cody in on the second play of the game and leave him in awhile. I might want to make sure we don't give up too many gashers either. If we do that, we may be only one or 2 plays away from winning....

I have a gash that may be right up your alley.....

We used to draft Sam Gash in fanatasy football just for the laughs....sorry, completely juvenile, I know......

OK... now I get it.... I really need to start looking things up in "The Dictionary" before I open my mouth....

I get it NOW....

I don't think blitzing and that sort of thing is the way to go. I think they believe our line can punish csu's line.

Blitzing is absolutely the way to go, at least if you follow the textbook. Go after the true-freshman QB and the line that has lots of first-time starters

We need it hit'em in the mouth. Push them around. I'm thinking they are going to be running quite a bit with a green QB and a 4* RB.

Run blitzes, run blitzes and occasionally throw in a delayed safety blitz to light up the QB.

So you're trying to say we shouldn't blitz their TrueFreshman QB? Come on now DBT!
Not if you can get pressure on him without it. I mean, sure, show a blitz here and there. But you have to disguise what you are doing. Show blitz and blitz. Show blitz and back off. But don't just go in there and blitz every damned passing down.

I agree with all of the comments, send the house and batter the rookie. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be surprise me if we hung back and let him complete dinks and dunks and drive down the field, gain confidence and make it a much closer game than we are hoping for.

this is what i absolutly expect. given this coaching staffs record. i am 90% sure this is what they will do. and it wont make it a closer game than what we were hoping for. it will be a loss.

if im the ewes, im all about the dink and dunk and milking the clock. make the game as short as you can.

If our CBs are as good as we *think* they are, we can afford to be aggressive. Send the facking house.

this!!!

If Hawk can't get the players up for this game, there's no hope.

Therein lies the problem. I don't think Hawk likes his players to get 'up' for games. Even keel and all that.

Unfortunately for us and for the team, football is an emotional sport.

This is what Hawk will do. He is too arrogant. He will assume we can push them around which is unlikely to happen. No way he blitzes to begin with. He will sit back and give the freshman QB a bunch of confidence.

I expect CSU to come out of the gates throwing the football and then lean heavy on the run game. I think CSU will have a very balanced offense this year. This will be a very tough game and will certainly let us know whether we have any sort of decent team or not.
