Come on ...

we have Tulsa at East Carolina about to finish up and SMU/Texas Tech at the half-

THAT'S IT TODAY FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL :wtf:

the Rocky Mountain Showdown should have been played tonight at 6 p.m.
Would have been the only game on tv nationally-
Would have been cooler than yesterday and my guess there would have been more fans at the game.
This game needs to be played the Sunday night of Labor Day weekend when it's scheduled for Labor Day weekend.

I am not a Sunday night fan. I would much rather play on Saturday, and have the full week to get ready for the next game. The short week that includes travel does not help. It was compounded last year with a Friday night game.

Keep the game on Saturday!

Anyone watching Texas Tech game? They look like a much different team with the new coach? Going from Mike Leach to Tommy Tuberville has to be pretty crazy.

I've never been a big fan of playing college games on Labor Day Sunday, it just seems too anti-climactic and I prefer the traditional Saturday games. Or if they're going to play something on Sunday, then put the really good games on Sunday. They always save the primo game for Monday night, but why not play that one on Sunday night when most people have the next day off? Oh well, I know the answer to that and it's because ABC/ESPN is dictating the schedules and they already have their prime-time event for tonight which is the NASCAR race. OK, just move the race to earlier in the day.

On a related note, I liked it much better when the NFL started on this weekend but for some damm marketing reason they moved back the start of the season about 6-7 years ago.

Not too different. Lots of shotgun and 4+ receivers. The QB still passed the ball 53 times. They still racked up 431 yards (which is probably down quite a bit from what Leach would have done).

I believe the mtn had the rights for this year's game and they don't do Sunday games. Next year when FSN, versus or ESPN hold the rights they might put it on Sunday.

Most in-state rivalry games only draw regional attention unless at least one of the teams is ranked, plus just about all of the other ones involve 2 BCS teams. The fact that this one pits a BCS team against a non-BCS team only works against this game's national appeal. You're hard-pressed to find another alleged rivalry that pits a BCS team against a non-BCS one.

I'm glad we are not playing on Sunday or even Monday...especially after we had a short week for Toledo and that ended in disaster.
