Boise - VT

Hooorayy, they beat a mid level pac 10 team and a mid level ACC team. Then they will have a schedule that a nebraska fan would consider an average OOC slate. Sounds like a team to put in a national championship to me.

what if Boise was in a BCS conference, and had BCS money? What happens then? They get even better, better facilities, better recruits, etc. As it is they are competing with BCS teams, without having the same resources. My hat is off to them.

It seems like most of you hating on Boise should be pissed at the azzhole NCAA, not Boise. Like someone already said, they can only play whos on their schedule.

We need a ****ing playoff, already....

They'll just say this is what makes the system so great, all of the "discussion" it creates.

Dude.... They have two top 25 times on their OOC slate. Have you seen Nebras****s' schedule?

I don't think it's such a certainty they beat OSU. OSU didn't look bad vs TCU and that was an away game for them with a young QB who didn't look half bad. VT played like crap. Boise is a good team, but deserving of a national title game shot? Nope.

rewarding them for a freaking one game season pisses me off.

This. People want to reward them for winning any time they play a BCS team, but they only have to do that once or twice per season. When you have 10 BCS teams on your schedule and go out and beat them all, then you have an argument. And only then.

I just came on here because I was angry at the thought of BSu going to the NC with their pathetic schedule. So I am glad to see that most agree with me.

Yes they are a good team. Yes that was a good win. And yes an undefeated season would be deserving of top 20 finish but top 2? NO WAY!!!!! The only way they should be top 2 with that schedule is if every other BCS school has 2 losses.

And I don't buy the "they beat the teams put in front of them". BS!!! Put a Big XII schedule in front of them (or other BCS conf. sched) and they DO NOT go undefeated. You have to take that under consideration.

How many Big 12 teams win tonight versus Va Tech in that environment? Texas maybe, thats even a toss up. Just saying.

Until they actually play a full BCS schedule, your statement is speculation.

Oh please. If CU faced a similar ached with even the current staff and Players they'd sleepwalk to 7 wins. Speculation? Yes. But take a look at the effiing WAC and compare to the b12 or sec or b10 or p10.

If BSU goes to the NC game, they will get freaking stomped and set back the minor conference teams a good ways, IMO.

I too believe this, after all, he is only one man. And how could any Allbuffs poster compete against a whole god damn team??????

By the way, I think that only looking at ranked teams that teams play is a poor method of evaluation.

Boise plays a top ten and a top 25 team this year, yes, but other than that they play total garbage. The difference in conference strength isn't just at the top -- it is even more significant, IMO, in the middle and the bottom. Middle-tier BCS schools are way, way, WAY better than middle-tier WAC schools. The difference is night and day. Look at teams like Miami and FSU in the ACC, for example, that in recent years have been mostly unranked middle-tier ACC teams. Even in the worst down year they absolutely wipe the floor with pretty much every team in the WAC except BSU. Same can be said for a bunch of other BCS schools that are in the middle of their conferences. The WAC is just a really, really weak conference.

Seriously, I don't even understand why there is a debate. Boise fields a solid group of starters, but they play a two game schedule. VT looked awful and I honestly could see them as a 3-4 loss team this season... same with Oregon St. Boise will beat two 4 loss BCS conference teams, and get to waltz into the NC. It's sickening. I'd love to see them thrown into a BCS conference where they have to play top teams week in and week out... easily a 3-5 loss team with no shot at a title. Sure they can compete when they have a full offseason to prepare for the 1st game and a full month to prepare for a bowl and only have to play two real games a year. They don't get my respect until they do it for a full year against BCS competition.

I don't know about that - they only have to get jacked up for one game. Play above their heads just one time. When you have to do that week in and week out in a major conference it's impossible. BSU depth would not be adequate. Dan Hawkins could win 8 games a year if CU was in the WAC.

To me, Boise was the most impressive team after week 1, if I were a voter I'd have them #1 or #2. VA Tech is a heckuva team who made some uncharacteristic mistakes early, but ultimately got outplayed.

I can see both sides of this argument really. One thing im pretty confident in is Boise has a hard time getting folks to play them. I would think they have talked to alot of big time teams about playing. Just seems to me, when they do play a name, they usually win. Last night was a road game to me and was a pretty big stage. Im not saying they deserve to play for it all or they dont. I do know, if that was CU last night playing Va Tech, the win would have had us going nuts here. 2 game schedule or not, they get it done on the big stage.

Gaaaaaah. I hate Boise state. I'm so sick of the underdog love from the media. Put them in the b12 or the b10 or the p10 and tell me they don't lose at least 3. Put them in the sec and tell me what would happen.

When u play a tougher schedule it has a cumulative effect. Winning in the b12 in November is Hella harder than playing some outgunned WAC team with no defense. Boise has far more starter talent than the other WAC teams.

I hate this. It is so ridiculous.

Since 2002, Boise is 7-7 against BCS schools... go back a few years before that and the record gets much worse. Oh and the argument about nobody wanting to pay them is partially false. Sure teams don't want to play them, because they stipulate three things (1) they receive a large payout for the games, (2) a home and home, and (3) that the games be scheduled within the first two weeks of the season. Essentially the BCS school has to pay them big money to pay twice, play them at their place where the BCS school will lose revenue, and play them before any injuries occur and where they can have an 8 month offseason to prepare... so the argument about no one playing them is BS. I'd love to see them try to run through an SEC schedule.
