No details yet. He mentioned it in his press interview today.

I'll update this thread once we know who they are. I've got a family thing this afternoon, though, so if someone else catches it first... please fill everyone in.

Rivals article says he tore his ACL. Had some interest from some decent schools prior to the injury. If he can come back from the injury he is another guy who could be a quality player for us at WR. Prior to the injury he reportedly ran a 4.45.

Also looking at walk-ons, a former walk-on, Seth Lobato is now the #2 at Northern Colorado. He was 3-5 for 38 yards in mop up duty last week playing behind Parker Ohrms brother who is a senior.

why now?

Maybe one or more will help, but why are they walking on now? Esp if they are local kids, why not walk on this summer?

I"ve never heard of late walkons (except when a team desperately need a place kicker or something). Did these guys see the csu game together at a bar and decide, "hey, I'm that good"

Go Buffs!

Maybe someone else knows the rules better than I do but my understanding is that the NCAA only allows a certain number of non-scholarship players to participate in out of season drills. They may also have to be currently enrolled in classes to participate. Now that the season has started and classes are starting up they can now participate. I know that other schools have the same thing happen bringing in their non-PWOs after the first game.

Most of these guys will never see the field for a game, a good ratio for a quality program is to have 1-3 contribute as occasional backups and/or special teams players and 1-2 make a solid contribution as a potential starter or key back-up. The biggest contribution is in filling out the scout teams providing opposition in practice.

Roster limit is 105 until after the first game. Then, rosters can expand with no max limit.

The max number of guys on scholarship is always 85.

Always "late" walkons --- some think about it and show up in October.

From a thread several months ago:

From the Spring Game team rosters they list the two new kickers:

#29 Gabe Romano, Fr. 5'9" 165 lbs - Castle Rock, CO (Douglas County)
#14 Sean Minett, Fr. 6'0" 190 lbs - Eagle, CO (Vail Mountain)

My reliable source says that kicker Sean Minett is back, but has not seen Romano.

So we may have figured out 3 of the 8 so far: Ford, Heath and Minett.

But Minett won't be wearing 14 as that's Dillon Freiberg's number now.

p.s. Northern Cal is beautiful. Going to wear my buffs hat around today and try to stir up trouble at the antique malls with my antique relatives.

you have, without a doubt, the best kicker knowledge in America.
