I'm tired of watching this team and this coaching staff not recruit talent, not develop talent, not coach talent and not progress at all! We are still making stupid mistakes, stupid penalties and playing uninspired in 5th season under Hawkins. I've been dragging one foot on the ground trying to get off this bandwagon for a couple of seasons now...today I have two feet firmly planted on the ground. UGH

As mentioned by other posters, I too felt this was a wasted year. I had the schedule picked as a 4-8 to 5-7 year with Hawk gone after we lose to the Corn. The most disturbing thing about this game is that we looked as bad, if not worse than, our 58-0 drubbing by Mizzou in 2008. I also knew we would lose (road game), but I thought it would only be by 2 TD's.

I guess my frustration is this: these are Hawk's players, period. All of these guys are his guys. Save Paterson and Clemons, they have all been playing in his "system" for 3 to 4 years. I am using the word "system" pretty loosely, since I can't call our version of football a system. I do think we are talented, but regardless, I have the feeling next year will be another "rebuilding" year.

There are bright spots, we do have talented players, but with no identity, they can't showcase their talent. Paterson Clemons, Richardson, McKnight, these are good, and some great, receivers. Speedy is a good situational back, and we do have really, really good CB's. Kasa, Herrod, Major, etc, these guys are good and would be great with some good coaching and systems geared towards their skills. All fingers, especially the middle ones, point to the coaches.

I personally feel it's going to get worse from here. Hawaii is no slouch, I have been having nightmares about what Georgia is going to do to us, and don't get me started on Mizzou and OU. We are in for a long, long season. I was so confident in an abysmal season (and financially strapped), that for the first time since 2004 I am not flying home to watch a game in person.

Also, during the game: WHAT WAS THAT CRAP ABOUT HOW HAWK HAD A TOUGH TIME TURNING THINGS AROUND WHEN HE GOT TO BOULDER?!?! About how he had to teach a bunch of individuals to play as a team and to get them to buy into his system?!?! Yeah IT'S CALLED BEING A HEAD COACH OF A DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL TEAM! That's why you are paid 1 million plus a year genius!! TO COACH!!!

I have and always will support the players, they are out there wearing our colors trying to make this a better program, and most if not all of them know this is Hawk's last year. I will still watch/listen to every game I can, I will still bleed BLACK and GOLD, but once it was announced that Hawk was back after the Corn last year, I knew there wouldn't be much to cheer about till September.....of 2011.

I've been excoriated a number of times for bringing up the lack of talent issue. I have argued that if you aren't signing the top 3-5 guys in your own State and then NOT getting the top guys from other States to compensate, you just won't have enough talent...and they don't.

As lost as Hawk seems, the bigger issue seems to be the talent level. Talent and depth just aren't there. It's gonna be a while before this gets fixed.

How people expected this years team to be much better than last is baffling. I can't see how this team can average more than 20 pts/game and that is going to make it pretty tough for the D.

More disturbing is the fact that none of the 3 phases of the game are considered the strength of the team. It's not like the D is weak and the O compensates, or vice versa. How do you gameplan with that issue?

Classic sequence today:

CU has 3rd and goal from the 2 yard line.
Personal foul on the OL (chop block), now it's 3rd and goal from the 17.
False Start on Solder, 3rd and goal from the 27.
Nothing on 3rd down
Goodman misses field goal.

3rd and goal from the 2 - 2 penalties, 1 missed field goal, 0 points - this sequence perfectly summed up the last 4 1/2 years of the Hawk era.

This times a million.

I was sitting there watching a football programming commercial today during the 4th quarter, and I thought, "Every single one of these programs gets to be excited about their program at least once every 4 years and have some hope for a good season." I don't even remember what that's like, as, while I had paid attention in HS, I came into CU as a freshman in 2002.

Hawk's like an abusive relationship. I keep getting the piss beat out of me every year, but I keep coming back.

Today was the first day i was ashamed to be in my CU gear. Even last year I wore it proudly. Today though, I was out in my jersey and hat getting some half-time lunch, and I simply felt ashamed.

A lot of fans have loved Hawk's program up to now, and it's taken all of that support to get us to this "new level". Giving Hawk more time with all that support he's received has made all the difference.

Did anyone else here notice that of all the beatdowns in Div I collage football yesterday, that the CU / Cal game was the most loppsided?

We actually have a pretty decent defense. But yeah, our offense, was offensive. Most of our penalties occurred on offense. Our offense could not score and barely gained any yards.

I am so glad I did not drink the kool aid.

I drank the Kool-Aid, but it has all since come back up.

I don't know what we have to look forward to....will we win another game? will hawk ever lose his job? if he does, will the new coach have any success. UGH.
