1st play

To me, the 1st play set a tone. With no idea how the recievers will actually match up with the defense, you throw an incomplete bomb and now have 2 plays with your backs literally 'against the wall' and a defense you know is fast and shifty, is at a major advantage -totally able to unload.

IMO what I saw was more of hawk fantasizing, rather than coaching. He was going to catch them sleeping and blow the game open with his surprise call. Opps. Maybe if it had been the 30 or 40 yd line, but not from the 5

They are laughing at CU in every B12 city this morning

And, Tedford was hired after Cal had a 1-10 year and has rolled off 8 straight winning seasons (6 bowls) and has a real good squad this year.
chicken hawk and his media friends cannot excuse his total failure, by blaming the situation when he arrived

When you say media and you are referring to the announcers you need to keep in mind that they have to fill 3 1/2 hours with constant commentary. I think they are the ones saying that Barney left no talent and not necessarily the Denver media whom I don't hear appologizine for him that much. Keep in mind that was a Pac 10 FSN crew yesterday too.

overt or not, it's certainly likely the crew was on a directive to pump CU as a new Pac member. that's just how the PR machine works. when CU looks like ass, got to find a scapegoat to keep the sunshine pumping.

By 'media' I also meant all the local writers who have been saying how much we've improved, what great athletes we have this year, how the OL and DBs are NFL bound. How hawk just needs a little more time

I thought this team looked better than last years team. But what do you expect from a bunch of writers attending practice without anything to compare it to? Because of the penalties the Buffs remain are poorly coached team that was not well prepared for their game saturday.

I thought the first play of the game was a penalty. Just like last week, just like 3/4 of the season last year.

Look, sooner or later Dan Hawkins is going to be graded on his record. Obviously talking about CU joining the Pac 10 in front of a Pac 10 TV audience is a newsworthy topic.

I actually liked the call....if Hansen had put some air under it, Clemons may have scored.....talk about setting a tone....

hansen has a better arm than Cody-- but still not good enough. The ball floated too long and let the Cal defender catch up and knock it down. With Cal's QB that would have been a touchdown. Except cal's QB would not go to Cu because Daddy had to bring his son along. Thanks Dan!! Way to taint your sons career.
