Do the Buffs have games like this past Saturday because no one in the program takes football seriously... Not the coaches, not the head coach and not the players. I am sure they all tell themselves that football is important but I think it is just lip service. I look at the Cal players and their emotion level had to be an order of magnitude greater than the Buffs.

Then I see the sound bits,...we were not ready for their speed..What the heck is that about.

Hawkins says we are going to really like this team...no significant injuries, youth excuse is gone, but the mistakes, lack of emotion, crappy OLine play, no pressure from our Dline, all continue.

There is no doubt in my mind that this program is on a bad course and it will not soon recover.

I think the losing attitude inside this program has gotten to toxic levels. It extends from the coaching staff to up and down the roster. I have no idea how it got this bad, but it is disheartening to see a general ambivalence most weeks. Where is the leadership?

One of my endearing images from the Hawkins era is going to be Hansen and Cody playing leapfrog after a score. I still cannot shake that from my memory.

I think it's as simple as Dan Hawkins.

Our leader thinks that things like playing leapfrog on the sideline or dressing up an inflatable monkey build a winning attitude.

Our leader thinks that it's vital that our assistant coaches limit their office hours and don't spend too much time at Dal Ward.

Our leader thinks that everything that ever goes wrong for him is someone else's fault or bad luck.

Of course this filters down. Dan Hawkins, through his words and deeds, has made it clear what the culture of his organization is.

The man is a loser and a fraud.

I agree with that....I just cannot believe that Hawkins cannot see what he is doing is not working.

I agree with nik, it's all Hawk. The players want to win, but they don't know how. They're so used to getting ran over at this point that they just accept it. They need a strong head coach to come in and tell them it's not okay to just get blasted week in and week out.

I agree. I think it could be the same as the Rockies when they finally fired Hurdle last year. The starting pitching staff was soft as hell under ole Clint. 3-4-5 inning outings were commonplace. When Tracy came in, one of the first things he did was tell his starters he expected at least 6 innings out of them. And guess what? they responded...

I honestly think that Dan feeling sorry for himself has trickled down to a lot of the players and they just lay down and take it. I never see any emotion out of any of the guys, ever. I would rather see a fifteen yard personal foul frustration penalty when our guys are getting half a hundred dropped on them than see them look like they don't even care.

Nik, I gotta say I'm kind of suprised hearing this from you. Not meant as a burn at all because I agree completely, just surprised. You've always been pretty level headed and pragmatic about this situation, but to see that even you have gone so sour on Hawk really says something.

That's why Givens isn't playing, isn't it? Too much emotion.

I wanted him fired after the CSU game last year. I pretty much melted down after Toledo. After the reversal of Hawk's fortunes right before the Nebraska game, I went nuclear.

But, as I've stated elsewhere, I pulled it back together and did all I could to be a good Buff soldier. I increased my donations to help AD finances. I upgraded my season tickets while adding a ticket. I decided to support Hawkins because he was our coach whether I liked it or not and I wanted the outcome that was best for CU. I spent a lot of effort during the offseason trying to present reasonable cases for taking a wait-and-see approach to Hawk's 2010 team and for giving him a chance to succeed this year.

The team is completely Hawkins recruits. There is a full roster. There are no injuries. The vast majority of starters are upperclassmen and we've got at least 20 guys with starting experience. The coaching staff had a continuity with the only changes being solid guys like Ash and Prince who had plenty of time to get acclimated and coach their guys through the offseason. There weren't any significant offseason transfers or dismissals except Simas, but we gained Patterson and Richardson in the bargain.

Well, I waited. I saw.

This team is no different than what I've seen the previous 4 years. Soft. Undisciplined. Uninspired. Disorganized.

Dan Hawkins is a loser and a fraud. He needs to be gone.

Careful here. We can take Cal as a comparative history lesson. They were good way back in the day, like the '50s. Then they sucked donkey nads for the next 50 years, most recently going 1-10 in 2001. For those of us that came up watching football in the '90s, Cal was synonomous with Rutgers in terms of suckitude. During this whole time, I am sure the Cal diehards were complaining that their hippy administration didn't care about football.

Then a funny thing happened. They lucked out and hired a great coach. Now, they are working on 9-straight winning seasons. Oh how quickly the tides turn.

So, this thing goes in waves. If Bohn nails the next hire, we will be right back to our old ways with 9- and 10-win seasons abound. And all of this stuff about the CU administration's lack of effort, will go by the wayside.

Bohn hasn't nailed a hire yet....

You be cool. Mike Bohn here will keep you tight and out of sight. I'm gonna shake the tree from the roots and rake up the fruits, rip it up out of the ground, find out what's going down. Don't worry about tomorrow, Mama, because tonight Dynamite's gonna make everything all right.

It starts at the top and filters down. Just look at the team's twitter feeds. They are more concerned about loading up on cheeseburgers at In and Out the night before a big game. These guys are more concerned about watching Entourage and Hung and get pissed about missing the MTV VMA's than about getting their asses handed to them on Saturday. They don't have their priorities straight.

People jumped on Givens for the penalties. I do too in some respects, but at least he showed emotion and cared about playing hard and winning. The lack of emotion and laying low while taking losses in stride comes from the top down.

This program is in dire straits. I know it is almost impossible to fire a guy midseason, but it needs to be done. We need to send a message that this type of product is unacceptable. The sad thing is I wasn't shocked at all at what happened against Cal (freaking Cal!). This is par for the course under this buffoon. Nik is right, he is a fraud.
