by not firing him...

He says that the CU Admin wants him gone and that by not getting rid of Hawk now
they are stringing him on and delaying the inevitable..

I don't like Kizla but I kind of agree here.

Fire him now. Give Cabral the interim title, bring Mac on as "consultant" for the coach search. This should have happened Sunday.

It's only a crappy way of doing it if Hawk knows for sure that there is no way he can have a "miraculous" season. But I'm sure in Dan delusional world, he thinks he can pull that off.

i posted it before, they are going let Hawk hang himself....so there is no question about it. Hawk is the kind of guy who will blame CU for his failure. but, if he's 3 wins in 2010, no one is going to question them. and we win in the court of public opinion (which ranges farther than just sports at CU). i know the admin psychology....they don't want stink on their career and name. as much as the budget and Benson going to Denver to beg for money, I think DiStefano and Benson (possibly Bohn, too)....they weren't ready to make a hire. and they didn't want their career and name attached to a split-second, here we go hire. this way, Hawkings hangs himself and they have a year to get ready for it.

the guy is 1-1, you can't fire him now. i still think we beat Hawaii. he's 2-1. conference season is where we take the chump.....I think we are 2-2 heading into conference play. have there been consistent signs that this staff sucks out loud and aren't BCS caliber...yeah, since day 1.

I guess I find the idea of painting Hawkins as a victim here is laughable. I hate the way things have played out at CU and I think it's a disservice to the university and the fans but to say they are treating Hawk poorly is just silly. He's getting paid a lot of money to live and work in one of the most beautiful places in the world and the fact is that his fate is in his own hands.

Sorry, not buying the Kiszla victim stuff here. DH is making close to an average of 100k a month for what he does. If he finds this position unacceptable then he can tender his resignation. Otherwise, take your lumps with your amazing paycheck and live with it.

What delusional world? Where is my contract extension? Just need to fix the little things, and stop shooting ourselves in the foot. AWESOME!

^^^^This.

And anyone as asst HC though I sure think Cabral deserves a tryout.

I think firing now shortens the hiring cycle. Sure, you can't talk to anyone officially about an opening. But if your a perspective coaching candidate your agent can talk for you and or you can signal through your agent that your interested in the job.

As for stringing him along... well. fyck him.

Well maybe if Hawk wouldve learned to shut his mouth and actually work on getting better, he would get better treatment. He gets paid healthy to suck this ****ing bad.

Leave it to Jizla to find an angle to make CU look bad, no matter the situation ... the guy is a tool, and any time spent reading his garbage is time lost.

Kizla is an idiot. And Hawk can talk as much crap about us as he wants. His reputation is ruined (except for with Mike Bellotti apparently)

Here's the thing, the season is in the crapper. I suppose an argument could be made that if you sh it can Hawkins now, an interim guy might pull a winning season out of his ass. The more likely scenario is that they fire Hawkins and have the same kind of season without him that they would have had with him. So why pay the extra buyout money? You can use the time between now and the end of the season to vet potential candidates, and schedule a news conference for five minutes after the NU game to announce Hawk is gone and (insert new guy) is in.

Kizla strikes again with an idiotic piece meant to incite people.

Dan Hawkins has a job to do. He is being paid handsomely to do it. If he finishes the regular season at 11-1, I'm certain he'll be back in 2011 if he doesn't leave for a different job. The CU AD can and will fire him at a time of its choosing while Hawkins is under contract.

**** Hawkins, but **** Kizla too.

Hawkins has been stringing CU fans along for 5 years now. 5-10 weeks of returning the favor is simply a taste of his own medicine.

Bohn can even give him some of his own verbage when he demands an extension...

"Well Dan, we're putting it together, we just have a few little words to work on and then this thing will pop. We're trying to limit the potential gashers, but we're doing it the right way. You can't understand what we're doing because you haven't been an athletic director and you don't know about fund-raising and ticket sales. This is Pac-12 finances brutha!"
