Stop the presses: Henderson says Buffs "must improve"

Every single team in the Pac-10 next year except for Wazzu is going to be really good with few weaknesses while the Buffs clearly suck. Thanks for the analysis John.

that Hendy cites 13th ranked pro style QB as a serious statement....shows all you need to know. Riley is pretty average at Cal, but 13th ranked pro style QB is not all that Scout/Rivals bible hot. not that recruiting rankings are all that, just that the author is trying to "scare Buff fan" with the number....is the funnay.

Gotta love the Denver media, there was also a newsflash on the Pinkskirts!!! Who gives a **** what color practice jerseys some Big 10 team wears? Is the post gonna start reporting on Minnesota or Purdue practice jerseys?

Henderson is going to be even more of a thorn in our side. The dude is an absolutely rabid Oregon homeri. Heard from sources in the newsroom that he is completely obnoxious about it.

Who do we have to blow to get somebody from the Denver media on board with the CU program? Not expecting them to pump sunshine all the time but no matter what happens with the athletic dept, especially football they will always find the negative angle and make that the feature story. For the Pac 12 its this, if CU ever decided to spend the money to hire a quality coach or make improvements they would write an article about how they are spending so much money. If CU starts winning games, they would write something about the APR hits or write about players getting in trouble. It would be nice to have just one person from the Denver Post that has a pro CU outlook and at least one from the local news as well. UT has Kirk Bohls, and Cedric Golden from the Statesman and Two radio stations contantly pumping sunshine. - Know its easier to do when you are not in a pro sports town and the team is winning but I get so sick of nothing but negative articles. "Lets just continue to kick CU while they are down"

The Denver media is a joke and always will be. It isn't just the dying format of print media that is killing the Post, it is the low quality of their reporting. They do not research their stories. Don't expect them to get on board with CU even if we have some success. I am sure they will find something to ***ch about.

Henderson = Jizla and I'm sure if Meisler was on the Big 12 beat it would be the same with her. They are all a bunch of worthless hacks working for a dying newspaper that most days is nothing more than a gloriied newsletter.

In a similar vien, I remain amazed at the 9News spot played at the CU UH game on the replay screens. It had the cheerleaders and Chip cheering on or driving in, a 9News truck and then the CUAD thanks 9News for their support. Unbelievable, am I the only one who remembers how shamelssly 9News whored themselves out to the plaintiff's PR firm during the scandal that wasn't? Adam "sally" Schrager anyone? I wanted to puke.

The irony is that when he went to school there, they blew. In fact, they have a sh*tty history prior to Belotti turning them around in '01. So they've been good for 10 years... la-di-****ing-da. They are the definition of nouveau riche, like Virginia Tech & Boise State.

or Kansas State in the late 90's. UO is not quite but traditionally almost KSU bad.

Hey Kim Christiensen was a CU baton thrower. Saw her at the spring game, she's a buff!

I agree that Oregon wasn't consistently good until Belotti got there but I think you're confusing them with OSU. The Beavers were traditionally KSU bad but I think Oregon was much more middle of the road.

I bet Henderson continues to write his regular 'braska articles even after they move to the Big X.

Meisler actually lives in Boulder and would much rather cover the Buffs than the ewes.

Are you a graduate of their English dept.?

Thought about that actually, but then I said **** it, I'll just go with my fractured syntax. I figured some anal twit might call me out and I was right! :smile2:

BTW - B-School Grad and proud of it

I've never seen a city like denver that despises the main college football program in the state like thier media hacks do. You'd NEVER have some michigan honks in ohio bashing the buck in the print media or on the airwaves.

Gets sickening after awhile and henderson should just move to lincoln.

i agree. i've lived in Denver/Boulder, Nashville (U of Tennessee market all the way but still gives Vandy love--and UT and Vnady are bitter "rivals"), Norman/OKC, and Boston. even the condescending Bostonian pro media support BC and UMass. they treat it like a cute sideshow, but they all in mostly. the antagonism here is weird.

Growing up here, it seemed to start to get this way at the end of Mallory's stint and when Fairbanks was hired it became the feeding frenzy it is today.

that sounds about right. you probably have to add that Mac's success at almost exactly the same time the Bronco's were the Super Bowl's uncompetitive "losers" which was a real sore point for a Denver sports media looking to become "big time" themselves instead of cow-town scribes. and the "outlaw" image Mac's teams had to a degree and then Mac's own lightening rod for being publicly Christian etc. made for an easy, inflammatory straw-man.

it's weird to me how Mallory is such a forgotten figure. he had a couple good, ranked teams, shared a piece of the Big 8 crown in 76...but is almost NEVER talked about.....and never on CU boards as long as i've been reading/posting back to NB in about 99.

The one thing about Mallory that set-off the media (and fans) is that when things started going down hill, he had a real siege mentality. I remember him saying "the media and fans can all go fly kites", not the worst thing ever spoken and he was lacking in the personality dept. He also inherited the last talent pool from Crowder and when his classes were all in the Buffs were 5-6 or something.

If/when CU is able to expand the stadium capacity to 80,000+ and regularly fill it, then and only then will CU get the respect of the Denver media. Why 80K? Because it's 5K more than will fit into Invesco. If CU can out-draw the Broncos, even if they're not the big dog in town, they will turn heads. We're a long, long ways from that happening.

Forgive me Hannibal Navies for I sinned.

I read a John Henderson article, which is something I swore not to do.

I thought that it was premature to write about the 2011 Buffs when the 2-1 2010 team hasn't even started conference play.

And now I am providing the very feedback that generates a buzz and keeps Henderson employed.

Somewhere Patrick Ridgell weeps.

30 hail Mac's yada yada.
