How miserablely smug is Hawk going to be if we win this game?

He is going to be insufferably awful to listen too. Crowing about how he was right etc etc etc. Then, of course, we will go to Mizzou and get destroyed by another cal-ish score. I'm already dreading his post game, win or lose. Damn this coach.

Have to admit I thought about that too..........

No win situation I fear

jeezus! Why not, first of all, hope for / pull for a win? The Hawk thing will take care of itself. You guys (so far in this thread) appear to be, maybe subliminally, hoping we lose so that you can get the last laugh on Hawk.

That's how you took " I'd prefer him gloating instead of whining" ?

You suck at reading comprehension.

I prefer winning. I hate Hawk. Win or lose, he is awful. Guess I should just root for a win.

Nah, that wouldn't be any good either. Then all we'd hear about is one play would have made a diff. I was rather hoping for a tie ball game

No, I took it as "we dread the possiblity of winning because then we'll have to listen to Hawk gloat" or "whine" or whatever. Its just a negative thread and I am, you know, all about positivity. :smile2:

I never hope the Buffs lose. NEVER.

This is the stuff I couldn't care less about. I just like to win.

But I would expect Hawkins to be pretty even keeled. He'll say it's a good win, got to look at the film, get to work on Missouri and cleaning some things up, etc., etc. More coachspeak. The only difference if we lose is that he'll say it's a good effort instead of a good win.

The ideal way for us to win on Saturday is for the game to be 0-0 until the last minute and then UGA hikes the ball over their punter's head and through the back of the endzone for a safety as time runs out. That way, because the dawgs scored on themselves to lose the game, Hawk get's no credit for the win and gets fired next week but the buffs enjoy another mark in the W column. WIN/WIN!!!!!

(A guy can dream can't he...)

I just don't subject myself to him in anymore. Press conferences, interviews, t.v. shows...don't even bother checking to see what he has to say. I've literally heard everything he has to say a hundred times over. He is just too much like nails scraping on a chalkboard these days.

I know this, you'll NEVER hear hawk speak the way Mac Brown did after their beat down by ucla, never.

I know it won't happen, but it would be fun to see the tone of this board if Hawkins made a run at and or even won the north and maybe the Big XII this year. It'd be classic to compare "before and after" posts when that happens. Which it won't.

I'll preface this by saying that I've grown really tired of Hawk and his "Hawkisms." They do grate on my nerves. So, the joke would be on me too IF that happened. And I still stand behind my "even if he wins 8 games, he should be gone" stance of late. Prior to the first game I said he needed to win 8 games to stay. But if he somehow got this thing turned in a BIG WAY, I'm not sure what I'd think or say.

IMHO he should only stay if CU ends up 10-2 and shows well in the Big 12 Championship game- but then goes to Alamo Bowl & WINS IT

Frank Solich went 10-2 or something the year before he got axed. And do you know why the axed him? Because he wasn't recruiting the the 'braska standards. Now, I don't know if they were right or wrong in firing him. But I think a lot more should go into evaluating Hawk than wins and losses. Saying that and thinking about it, academics DOES matter to me. I doubt that 'braska had "academics" in their formula. But its complex.

This... As perversely masochistic at it seems, some of you guys seem to love letting Hawk make you miserable. It's bad enough he's still the coach but we're pretty powerless in that regard. Still, you don't have to torture yourselves.

You're right, a lot more should. But as a football coach above the peewee level the first thing on that list of evaluation criteria is W's and L's. That's the first filter. And as such, he's a miserable failure.

Well, my point was that W's and L's were NOT the "first filter" when Solich was fired. By your logic, I guess, he should have been retained. Right?

Criticism and commendation should both be given when earned. Right now he has earned one and has a long way to go to earn the other. Hopefully Nik is right because you get to talk trash when you can back it up and he has a long way to go in that department. I'd still settle for 8 wins in the regular season and a convincing bowl win. Short term, win the next four and at least show you belong on the same field with the Sooners. I might be able to tolerate a "told ya so" then.

Gloating be damned! I'll take a win at this point. Want Hawk gone yesterday but I want a win especially for the 1990 team. I'd rather see us win against a down SEC team that has a football rich tradition and have us drop a couple of games in conference than get blown out again and eek out some wins against ISU and Kansas. I'm tired of seeing CU always lose to quality OOC teams - Miami, FSU, ASU, UGA 06 WVU last year etc. I would like to see us win another one for a change. -- With that said I still would not change the current scheduling policy. I like seeing quality teams play the buffs much more than cupcakes

I'm pretty sure he'll say the same crap he's been saying:
"see, it's like this. You gotta keep off the peaks, stay out of the valleys and keep working on the little things. When you do all that, it all just starts to come together. This win isn't really different from our loss to Cal, it was just 2 or 3 plays that made all the difference"

Smug? No. Tough to listen to? Yes.

Goes without saying that I would love to see us win though...

I think there is a better chance of the Buffs losing by more than 14 points than winning this weekend. I dont think we have to worry about Hawks gloating but we will have to hear things like ..."they were bigger and faster than we thought they were", "We didnt come out ready to compete". I think the O-Line gets killed again and Hansen is running for his life. These coaches SUCK and the only time we win is if we are just more talented than the other team, which as we can see doesnt happen often.

I am right with you on this. I sure hope we have this problem as it will mean a good season. I am also with you that you have to evaluate everything, not just wins and losses. Recruiting, how he treats his players (voluntary or involuntary position switches), how he presents himself as a figurehead for the university (no CU gear, constantly bashing the program he inherited, bashing his players performance), etc. There are a lot of things he is doing right now that are inappropriate in my mind and lead me to believe he may not want to stay after this season.

Again, I sure hope we end up with this dilemma. However, if we get blown out by Mizzery, get him outta here.
