Props to Jimmy Smith

Had an awesome game - saved 2 Tds, stepped up against Green, tough in run support. I think he helped his draft stock today.

Seconded, other than the missed tackle that the RB spun through, I thought he played well. Also had a tackle or two on special teams. Congrats Jimmy!

yep, on the other hand, jalil brown and our safties were um ..well bad.

Jalil's speed was exposed. In space he isn't a "cover corner" but he does have some good red zone skills and could be good as Rhonde Barber type corner or an NFL nickel-back.

Maybe , just seems he's slower than what has been told. As for the safties, many whiff tackles tonight and they bite on every fake.

tackling was poor. Smith should have been on Green on all night. He did great.

Didn't something similar happen last year against UT? Brown played on Shipley and was getting torched until we switched him off onto Smith.

Yeah was surprised about the lack of presence from the safeties. I honestly do not recall Ray Polk's name even getting called once, and that is surprising since UGA went deep so much.

great game by Smith. Wish the coaches would have just said "Jimmy, you go and cover #8 whichever side of the field he's on", but when they did go at it, I thought Jimmy more than held his own. AJ Green is definitely the real deal. One heck of a WR.

Jalil would be a better safety if you ask me but not many, if any, can cover Green. Dude is very good.

The thing that struck me as odd we kept our zone the same no matter where Green lined up. If we put Jimmy on him the whole game his stats wouldn't have been impressive. Jimmy made some very athletic moves and defiantly helped his stock today.

Green is top flight, I doubt Jalil will face many more like him. Broyles at Oklahoma is pretty damn good himself. Yeah I have Jimmy on Green tonight no matter where he is just based on Jimmy matching up better than Jalil on him.

Good mention on Broyles. He is stud too. Nowhere near as explosive as Green but maybe more dangerous as he is involved in the offense more and not just a vertical threat (doesn't he seem bigger than 5-11?). Niles Paul is good as well, but not a physical freak like AJ is.

Green was easily the best player we will face all season.

Jimmy also saved a touchdown on the opening kickoff.

Jalil is a good college corner who was overmatched tonight. He'll play safety in the League, imo.

Jalil totally blew the long TD play, but the rest of the night Green just made sick catches despite very good coverage by Jalil. That one-handed TD was crazy, as was the catch he made down the right sideline. Jalil was there, Green was just better at creating space for himself without getting called for PI. The question I had was, if you're not going to keep Jimmy on Green all night, why the hell aren't you rolling safety help over to Jalil's side. Green should never face single coverage. He WAS their offense.

I agree, Green's gonna do that to most. Jalil acted like he had help on the post but he opened way too late and the guy was by him. Might be stiff in the hips a little but he made a nice pick, thats for sure. Props to Mahnke on that play as well.

Jalil is often suspect to getting beat deep... Just saying . But I was extremely proud of Jimmy Smith. I know he's talented but it seems that he is usually content to sit back and let the plays come to him. Jalil plays hard, but I usually find myself thinking Jimmy is a bit lazy . Not tonight! He got after it

Smith had a great game, but was beat for a TD if the ball wasn't overthrown on 2nd and G from the 2 on the second to last drive that ended in a FG in 4th.

Props to Jimmy Smith, whatever caused AJ Green to cramp up, and few poorly thrown balls by Aaron Murray.

Georgia has a very talented and well coached freshman QB who threw some accurate passes to some amazing play makers. Jalil Brown was torched by superior athletic talent. CU lost the recruiting battle at the QB and WR positions. It was UGA's game to lose based on size and speed. But Georgia lacks the discipline needed to win hard fought games.

Kudos to Smith and Brown for making UGA earn their big plays.

Jalil actualy had pretty decent coverage on the first TD to Green. If a guy jumps that well and can reach out a get the ball high and outside with one hand while pushing off with the other there aren't a lot of corners at any level who will stop that. On the other TD Jalil bit a bit on the run and never recovered. Again Green beat him with his athletic ability using a burst of speed that few guys have to create the separation. Outside of those two plays Jalil had pretty decent coverage. In the pro's the coordinators will be smart enough not to leave him on a island against guys like Green. He will be more of a zone guy or a nickel against guys in the slot.

Smith on the other hand showed some athletic skills of his own. Closing on the deep pass to the endzone to leap and knock it away is going to be looked at by a bunch of scouts on the films. He also made some other plays that showed that he can spend some time on the island and perform. He also showed a willingness to handle his responsibilities in the run game (even on the one where he missed the RB in the backfield he was there and trying,) and on specials.

It's one thing to look good on tape against CSU or Hawaii but in the NFL those opponents are spectators. Georgia had some NFL type athletes, and not just Green. Our corners came out pretty well considering.

Polk is still learning the position but I saw him support well against the run on a number of occasions and he wasn't bad in coverage. Perkins had an off game but this is the first time he has played extensively against a team as talented as Georgia.
