Repeat of strategy that yielded the 2008 recruiting class?

After the 2007 season, we were heading to a bowl game. Coming off a 2-10 season the year before, recruiting got off to a somewhat slow start. But we used visits during bowl practices to reel in our class. That class ended up being ranked #15 by Rivals and #27 by Scout.

The following players committed at least a week after the final regular season game:

Ryan Deehan
Lynn Katoa
Max Tuioti-Mariner
Doug Rippy
Bryce Givens
Ryan Wallace
Paul Vigo
Rodney Stewart
Darrell Scott

I expect CU to finish strong in recruiting again this year.

(P.S. That list is both encouraging and depressing, isn't it? What I wouldn't give for a healthy Max, an eligible Katoa, and an in-shape Scott.)

Didn't Wallace leave too? Maybe it is a little shaky to get commits so late.

The difference is that at that point Hawk could convincingly sell the "we're turning things around" bit. I think at this point, unless there is a 2001 like performance from this team, it's going to be awfully hard to do that.

Wallace transferred to Kentucky (homesick was the reason given).

Scott, Katoa, Blackmon and Hicks are the other guys we have lost from that class. Jameson Davis could also be included, I guess, since injuries forced him to hang it up.

As far as who is left:

Jon Major
Max Tuioti-Mariner
Ryan Deehan
Bryce Givens
Ray Polk
Doug Rippy
Curtis Cunningham
Patrick Mahnke
Vince Ewing
Will Pericak
Paul Vigo
Ryan Dannewitz
Tyler Hansen
Rodney Stewart
Shaun Mohler (JUCO)

Still a damn fine class if you ask me.

Where the hell is Rippy anyway?

He was on the field for some key downs at the end of the Georgia game. Reports are that confidence in him is really coming up and we'll be seeing more of him. Remember, he made a position switch to the inside this year so he had some catching up to do.

Good we need him, forgot about him moving inside. Nice to see Webb make a nice play the other night too.

Looks very good on paper. But we're still waiting on several of those guys to take the next step. I figured Deehan would be a star by now.
