Ringo Tweet: Riddle Opens up placekicking competition

C'mon guys, you know one of Hawk's favorite sayings is "We'll see". I guess he had finally seen enough. The rest of us saw enough over the last three years. Hawk is kinda slow.

All it took was Goodman going 16 for 36 to get here? Now THAT's some special teams coaching! 44% for his career...

Unless this means it's a competition among Castor, Kirkwood, Freiberg and any student that played soccer in high school and wants a shot... with no Goodman... then it makes no sense.

Goodman has lost this job on the field. He shouldn't be able to win it back in practice. He's been mediocre enough on kickoffs that I'd let him compete there.

I was on Buffzone and saw the title of this tweet, "CU Special Teams Coach Kent Rid....." and immediately got my hopes up that there had been a mid-season firing. **** NO! Just some stupid **** about opening up the kicking competition. **** Off Riddle! Go play intramurals brotha.

I agree. Wanna bet we see Goodman kicking FGs or EPs again at some point this year?

This is pure comedy. Sorry if I dont feel good about the people behind Goodman either as scary as that is.

Hawk figures that this kind of a percentage is deserving of an extension, after all Goodman is doing things the right way, he's just about to pop.

In the world of Hawk 16 for 36 is success, look at his coaching record at CU.

For Riddle's sake I hope somebody hacked Ringo's account. This is both comical and offensive.

44% at CU? Sounds like the special teams coach is beating the head coach in the success category.

According to Ringo, Hawkins says Kirkwood will get the first shot at a FG or XP this weekend.

That last missed FG was the straw that broke the camel's back, I guess... That camel's back is broken in 20 places already, poor thing.

Seriously if I was Castor or his family I would be pissed with the staff. He loses a year of eligibility for one play:pissed:

Whats the 411 on Kirkwood?

He should have been kicking long before this, and Aweida should have kicked last year.

Strong leg, but both Hawkins and Riddle have this obsession with "rainbows" --- they like it when a kicker pops one up high and arcs it in between the posts.

Kirkwood's accuracy is very close to the others, but his practice kick is not the "pretty" looping kick they like, so they prefer Goodman and Castor to actually making points.

True.

Kirkwood played college soccer for two years at Concordia. He's used to the gameday energy and crowds (although not a stadium full.) Solid kid, big kid. He should be doing the kickoffs, too. IMO of course.
