Important Reading for the Logan Fans

Another team willing to bite the bullet and terminate the head coach midway through the season.

I really think if Hawkins loses at home to Texas Tech on Saturday, and loses big at OU next week, Bohn will step up to the plate and terminate Hawkins immediately.

We are not supposed to beat OK so that wouldn't be the deciding game. I think if we lose to Kansas on the road, which is likely, would be the end.

Making the Jump From HS to College

And as HS coaches go, Logan is no Todd Dodge who did it at the highest level of HS football. Not opposed to Logan. But he needs to start as an assistant, not the HC.

No offense, but I'm not sure there are many levels of high school football that are higher than Mullen. And no, this is not any kind of endorsement for Logan as HC at CU. Mullen is a machine, though. I'd put them up against any high school in the country.

I don't want Logan as HC at Cu but he did a great job at A West and Chatfield before taking over Mullen. Didn't he also coach at Wheat Ridge or am I misremembering that? I know he played their.

If a mid-season change happens, I think it happens immediately following the loss that takes us out of bowl contention. Sooooo, that means it takes 4 more losses - with the way the schedule lines up, I'm betting we're heading to Nebraska with a 5-6 record with D2D still "having a chance" at the bowl game.

I'm not a Logan supporter either, but I have to think DL would be smarter than this: :wow:

Dodge not only brought his offensive system with him from Carroll, he also brought four high school coaches who worked with him at the school in addition to an assistant from a non-scholarship Division III college and another who had been out of coaching 13 years to fill out his original staff.

Mullen would be a solid program in Texas, nothing special and certainly not the program.

He won a state championship at Chatfield in part by recruiting a handful of Denver South kids (notably Lendale White) to play there. A state championship in football at Chatfield was a pretty big deal, but he also did not make a lot of friends in the community either.

He was coaching at A west when I was in HS. His QB was Cutlip. Poor Cutlip turned down Notre Dame for CSU.

Since Dodge went to a lowly FBS school, the better example would be Gerry Faust at Notre Dame in the '70s. He made the jump from either Moeller or St. X in Cincinnati, two HS powerhouses. Kind of crazy that ND, of all places, took that chance. It burned them badly.

Yeah, but for a school of less than 1,000 kids that would be impressive in its own right

I think it would really depend what class Mullen was in down there. 3A is no cake walk, 4A harder, but they could probably win state or compete for it in those classes. 5A, maybe every once in awhile but thats when you get Euless, Katy, Lake Travis, etc etc etc. Id like to see them schedule someone like Euless, Id watch it for sure. Mullen is pretty damn good.

He also "recruited" Wil Rogers. (Who, sadly, passed away a couple of years ago)

I don't know what kind of factor this is, but Logan has been the Bronco's announcer for a long time. He has spent a ton of time talking football with the likes of Mike Shannahan and Gury Kubiak. I've said this before, but Mike Shanahan believes Logan has a phenomenal offensive football mind. FWIW.

All that said, "No to Dave."

Dave Logan is a solid HS football coach, great Buff and solid part of our community. And should have absolutely no consideration for the CU head coach job.

i can't believe there is a logan thread without a reference to gerry faust.

faust may have been the greatest hs coach in the history of high school football. seriously. he was that good. and he made the jump to notre dame. and promptly crashed like john denver in an experimental aircraft.

logan may be good, but he is no gerry faust. and yet some want to hand him the keys to CU football. if he really wants the big gig, he should bury his ego and take a staff job first. if eb ain't ready for hc (which i am not sure i agree with), then what the hell makes logan ready?

he's a great Buff--- i am glad he's one of us, but let's get real.

Here's the thing I can't get over... Logan sounds like a typical announcer geek during Broncos broadcasts. How exactly will a personality like that win over recruits?

this talk about anybody beating Mullen by 40 is absurd. There are college teams that wouldn't beat Mullen. The difference between Colorado and Texas is that there are 15 Mullens in Texas, but only one in Colorado. The talent in Colorado is no different than it is in Texas. There's just a whole helluva lot more of it in Texas.

The school that Buffnik mentioned, Don Bosco, probably would beat Mullen by quite a bit.

BTW, top end Texas talent >>>>> top end Colorado talent, with rare exceptions. Sure the depth is greater in Texas, but make no mistake, the top end talent is also better.

Ummm no.

Id like to see Mullen play against Don Bosco, who is #1 on MaxPrep rankings. Euless ive seen a few times already this year, they are loaded. Id like to see Mullen play them too. Euless is #3 on that list and Mullen is at #12. As far as college teams, if we are talking Ft. Lewis lol, you have no argument from me. Actually 2 polls my bad.

Delasalle. Loyola Los Angeles. There are plenty of schools that in an average year would mudhole Mullen.

Is this a joke? Any rational CU football fan that doesn't have his di*k up Logan's ass knows that Dave Logan is about as qualified to be CU's football coach as Lady Gaga is. Who's going to be our OC, Mark Kiszla? Maybe we'll get CU alum Rick Reilly to run the defense. ****ing joke that people continue to speculate that this guy should be a candidate for the CU job. Beyond offensive. He's a ****ing high school coach idiots. Damn this **** angers the hell out of me. ****ing morons like Woody Paige just throw out his name out there like its ****ing royalty. **** you Woody, **** you media, and **** you to the ones that support Logan for head coach. This **** angers me more than Dan Talkins. And that's saying something.
