Wow. So much to say on this subject. While some of the Husker fans could be considered the nicest I have encountered, some were the rudest, most obnoxious and vitriolic fans I have ever seen. A truly bipolar fanbase.

1. We spent Friday night in a small Iowa farm town about 125 miles east of Lincoln. Went into a bar with a couple of locals both wearing Texas hats, and a Husker diehard immediately started cussing us out and telling us to get the **** out of there. That we had no business being in that bar in that town.

2. The Omaha World-Herald definitely foments a lot of resentment towards us. Reading it, I came away thinking that not only have we ****ed every woman in Nebraska, we burned their crops and introduced AIDS as well. Its no wonder that we are so hated.

3. Got some horns down and weird stares on the way to Lincoln through small towns. Some broad even asked us if we were lost when we stopped in Wahoo, NE to buy beer. "Uh, no you dumb bitch. Lincoln is on this road, but thanks."

4. Once in Lincoln, so many people said "Welcome to Lincoln" and "Good luck" and "Thanks for making the trip." Of course, it was obvious that a lot of people were saying it because they feel like they have to, not that they really meant it. One guy even was honest about it and said "I want to tell you that I hope we kick the dog**** out of you today, but I'll say 'good luck and welcome to Lincoln.'" We definitely heard our share of "Texas sucks" and the like.

5. The arrogance of Husker fans astounded me. Almost to a man, Nebraska fans "knew" they were going to destroy us. We were told that a good number of their fans sold their tickets because they didn't want to see such a bad game. Only two or three people we talked to thought we stood a chance. I was so tired of hearing it by the time that I got to my seat that I began asking why fans of a team that is 1-8 against another would be talking so much ****. After we were up 10-0 some forlorn Husker asked rhetorically why we were playing so well after two bad games. I just told him "because you're Nebraska. Not very good."

6. The "Serving Hot Carls" and "**** Texas" t-shirts were embarrassing. Seriously. I assume the Hot Carl guy realized he's the one who got served.

7. We are so in Nebraska's heads that the entire state should probably seek counseling.

8. The "classiest fans in America" sure do boo a lot. They booed the **** out of our team when they took the field. They booed when at least two different players were down. They booed our coaches. They booed the refs. I was really unimpressed with their overall in-game behavior.

9. The "Big XII" chant was awesome. As the Sea of Red became a bunch of rivers of red even before the pooch runback, you could see on the fans' faces how pissed they were. Some fans congratulated us. One fat bitch started saying some bull**** about UCLA. Um, OK. We just bukkaked all over your collective faces and you wanna bring up some other game. I also managed to sneak some words into "The Eyes:" "you cannot get away(even in the Big Ten)" and "do not think you can escape them (no matter what conference you run away to)."

10. After the game, I still heard a good bit of **** talking. Not sure why. We were told "**** you" several differents times and we were challenged to fight (by a guy and his friends who were walking away as they challenged us). We were just walking and minding our own business at the time. You would think you could do that without harrassment in a city that you own.

11. Had two fans in Lincoln thank us for beating Nebraska because their fans are so insufferable. We decided to head back to Omaha because the more people drank, the worse they became.

12. In Omaha, had two more people thank us for beating Nebraska because their fans are assholes.

13. At DFW, heard a Nebraska fan griping on his cellphone that we "are everywhere." Uh, yeah. This is Texas, dumbass.

14. For the record, I thought our fans were great. I didn't hear a lot of smack talking except to those who had been talking smack. Our group offered beer to every Husker who came over and talked to us before the game.

just something that jumped out at me...

Shocking! Guys like cornbread work so hard at establishing such a stellar reputation, only to be brought down by "a few bad apples". Nebraska fan is no better than any other, they just like to lie to tell themselves they are better.

Why all the fusker bashing? Sounds tame to me. It's not like they taped any of the Texas kids to the wall or anything for their meth induced amusement.

I am doing research for a possible trip to Lincoln this year. Also, everyone should check out the ThuJone MSpaint take on his road trip to lincoln. It is pretty damn funny.

I didn't see the MSpaint in the thread you referenced? Where can I find it?

I admire the sentiment, but has this guy ever considered that TexASS fans have earned a lot of hate all around the conference themselves?

I love internet reports of fan classiness. They are always accurate, informative, and insightful.

I thot the same, Daaah. Of course, he did post it on a tejass board so I'm sure they all believe its completely true.

Is anyone surprised by any of this? We all know that Fusker fans are pretty much amongst the most egotistical, superficial fans on the face of the Earth...

Why do people even talk and debate the "class" of other programs. This is college football. Everywhere you go there will be giant gaping assholes, and some really nice people. Everywhere I have been I have been offered beer before the game, cussed out on the way to the game, then have nice fans around me at the game while ice is being thrown from at us from a few rows back. There are probably no truly classy places to go to - so stop comparing the class of your program to the class of others. A few fans are gonna be dicks no matter what.

I think out of all the stadiums I've been to only falcon stadium has been filled with nothing but classy fans.

I never got offered beer by any of those Berkley Bear fans. What a bunch of dick holes.

Me neither. And not for lack of time spent in Berkeley's bars either.

Those bastages don't even talk football.

TO be fair, they were talking with CU fans, and they probably had the impression that you would not want to talk football, since your football coaches don't want to teach football.

(notice how they are YOUR coaches now!):smile2:

That mother f'er is completely classless! He took a pot shot at Eagle fans and we did not even do anything! Jackass!

I agree 100% I personally have never been a guy who talks s*** or does anything whether at a home game or away. But there are always those fans who will. I take even more caution when I'm at someone else's stadium just because it's their house and they are more likely to be upset if my team is winning. I've had my problems at Folsom, while completely unprovoked, but I've also had those same problems at KU, KSU, and OU. But I've also had great experiences with many people at those stadiums. One of the best that I had was sitting next to several ver nice folks at Folsom in 2003 and 2005. Every team has their fair share of a**holes. It's all about how the people around them react to them that determines the "classiness" of a fanbase.
